Job summary

Varda Space Industries in El Segundo, CA is seeking an Electromechanical Manufacturing Engineer II to scale production of spacecraft electromechanical assemblies. You will own manufacturing processes, create detailed work instructions, and ensure quality from wiring to assembly integration.

You will collaborate with payload design to improve DFMs, manage testing and traceability, and lead corrective actions for non-conformances in a fast-paced space startup environment.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience (3–6+ years).
• 3+ years manufacturing electromechanical assemblies experience.
• Experience reading electrical schematics and connector pinouts.
• Experience with wire harness fabrication and IPC/WHMA-A-620.
• Ability to design durable fixes from root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end manufacturing and assembly processes for payload systems.
• Develop and maintain work instructions, travelers, and acceptance tests.
• Interface with payload customers translating requirements into production.
• Implement contamination control and handling protocols for sensitive hardware.
• Collaborate with design engineers on DFM/ DFA feedback.
• Define payload acceptance testing and traceable build records.
• Lead root cause analysis and MRB dispositions with engineering.
• Coordinate payload integration milestones with vehicle team.
