Job summary

Newcomb and Company in Raleigh, NC seeks an Automation Install Mechanic to install conduit and control wiring per NEC and drawings. You will supervise helpers, ensure high-quality, efficient installations, and manage control components and HVAC accessories on site.

You will label components, communicate status with the supervisor, and help with material purchasing, drawings, and safety. Travel and team coordination are involved in this onsite role.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of local codes.
• Thorough understanding of installation tools, techniques, and devices.
• Ability to install electrical conduit.
• Ability to install copper piping to support instrumentation.
• Thorough understanding of control submittal packages.
• Thorough understanding of plans, specifications, and submittals.
• Understanding of automation and mechanical systems language.

Responsibilities

• Accurately lay out and install conduit and control wiring per NEC, control drawings, and company standards.
• Direct and work with helpers as required.
• Assure quality of installation with maximum efficiency.
• Install control components and factory provided HVAC unit accessories.
• Label control components per company standards.
• Communicate job status and needs with the installation supervisor.
• Create daily logs and update team members.
• Complete work orders and change orders when necessary.
• Assist in purchasing installation materials.
• Create as-built drawings.
• Attend job meetings when required.
• Coordinate with other trades.
• Maintain company vehicle and tools.
• Maintain the expected safety level.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Accurately lay out and install conduit and control wiring per NEC, control drawings, and company standards.

• Direct and work with helpers as required

• Assure quality of installation with maximum efficiency

• Install control components and factory provided HVAC unit accessories

• Label control components per company standards

• Constant communication with installation supervisor about job status and needs

• Communicate to team members including creation of daily log daily

• Complete work order and change order forms when necessary

• Assist in purchasing of necessary installation materials

• Creation of as-built drawings

• Attend job meetings when required

• Coordinate with other trades

• Maintain company vehicle and company supplied tools

• Maintain the expected safety level

Physical Demands

• All candidates for this position should be reasonably physically fit and capable of picking up a 50 lb. tool, piece of equipment or piece of material and moving it about either on a jobsite, at a vendor, our warehouse, etc.

• Ability to stand, bend, and kneel when needed

• Comfortable climbing ladders and working from scissor lifts at heights.

• All Automation Install Mechanics typically load and unload materials for projects and move these materials into place at the job site. This may involve carrying a load in tight and difficult situations and on uneven terrain.

• Familiar with the safe operation and capable of using hammer type drills and similar tools. (familiar with safe operation of required tools)

• Environmental conditions may range from outdoors at all times of the year to indoors at normal office conditions to indoor utility plants.
