Qualifications

• Florida Electrician license required.
• Completion of job-specific utility systems training within 1 year of hire.
• 4-7 years of Electrician experience.

Responsibilities

• Isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors and other electrical equipment.
• Operates testing instruments such as ammeter, ohmmeter, voltmeter, testing lamp, growler, battery and buzzer, oscilloscope, and tracer.
• Connects power cables to equipment and installs grounding leads.
• Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment using hand tools.
• Observes functioning of installed equipment to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.
• Inspects completed work for conformance with local codes.
• Plans new/modified installations to minimize waste and provide access for maintenance.
• Prepares sketches displaying wiring locations or follows diagrams/blueprints.
• Pulls wiring through conduit with assistance from general mechanic.
• Connects/splices wires with insulation removal, twisting or soldering, and caps.
• Works on special projects as needed.
