We're seeking a skilled, journey-level Electrician to perform advanced electrical work across City facilities and fire stations. You'll handle repairs, maintenance, and installations, while also supporting other teams when electrical expertise is needed. Work independently and make a difference every day.

High school diploma or equivalent and 6 years of experience performing general electrical installations, maintenance and repairs in a commercial or public facility, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
State of Idaho journey electrician license.
Valid state-issued driver's license.

This position is required to handle hazardous materials that if mishandled, place the general public at risk of serious injury. Coordinates day-to-day work, delegates tasks and sets deadlines for the assigned team. Provides guidance, direction and support for training and reviews work. Ensures effective collaboration with other teams. Listens to team members’ input and feedback and resolves any issues or conflicts.
Performs journey-level maintenance, installation and repairs to electrical systems, audiovisual equipment, sound reinforcement systems, access control systems, electrical motors and devices, gate operators, lighting controls and light fixtures and electrical vehicle charging stations throughout city facilities. Troubleshoots and fixes electrical circuits. Utilizes and programs Programmable Logic Computers (PLC) to ensure various systems perform correctly. Utilizes building automation system to automate lighting functions and set schedules. Utilizes maintenance management system to receive work orders, track time and record work activities.
Oversees the design and upgrades of electrical systems and related components at city facilities and fire stations, including alarm systems. Monitors exhaust systems and emergency generators and ensures they are all in working order.
Assists other city workers with maintenance-related duties and provides electrical expertise upon request. Reads and interprets blueprints, diagrams and electrical equipment operation manuals. Reviews drawings and specifications. Coordinates and oversees outside electrical contractors and inspects completed work. Inspects existing installations for code compliance.
Performs administrative duties, processes work orders, researches bids and plans electrical maintenance duties. Researches and recommends energy conservation measures.

Knowledge of: electrical systems and design, circuits, theory and code; general electrical components and tools, such as wires, electrical outlets and meters; electrical safe work practices; blueprints reading and electrical wiring diagram interpretation; programming and maintenance of Programmable Logic Controllers; general customer service techniques; and computer usage including related software.
Ability to: safely operate basic trade tools and equipment; understand and apply safety rules and regulations; troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues and motors; communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; and perform all essential functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without reasonable accommodation.
Individuals must be capable of operating vehicles safely and have an acceptable driving record.
Master-level electrician license.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently lifting/carrying up to 10 pounds and occasionally lifting/carrying up to 75 pounds. Also, the employee is always pushing/pulling up to 75 pounds. The noise level is always very loud. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Employees will sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, climb and balance. Position requires hand/finger dexterity.
The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures, in wet and humid conditions, areas of dust, odors, mist and gases or other airborne matter. Employees are exposed to mechanical and electrical hazards, work in/at heights and confined spaces. Employees will also drive a vehicle as part of this position. Work includes protected exposure to chemicals.
This position works: evenings, weekends and a rotating on-call schedule.
