Position Goal

To perform skilled work in maintenance, repair, and construction of lighting, power, and control electrical systems in a responsible and accurate manner.

Minimum Qualifications & Experience

• A high school diploma or satisfactory completion of an approved GED Testing Program.
• Satisfactory completion of Broward County School District's Electrician Apprenticeship Program.

Or

• A high school diploma or GED.
• Six (6) years of recent paid electrical work experience. Possession of current valid Broward County or Florida electrician certification, or passing the Florida State Certification Exam prior to permanent status.

Additional Requirements

• Ability to interpret drawings or sketches, estimate costs, and use all power and hand tools.
• Thorough knowledge of electricity, circuits, and electrical codes.
• Possession of a current certificate of competence.
• Ability to work safely from ladders and scaffolding.
• Ability to follow written and oral instructions and work well with others.
• Own hand tools required.
• Valid Florida driver's license; commercial driver’s license with endorsements if needed.
• Willingness to respond to emergency calls at any hour.
• Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing.
• Computer skills as required.

Physical Requirements

Light work exerting up to 20 pounds occasionally and 10 pounds frequently.

Terms of Employment

Salary and benefits aligned with the district's compensation plan. Work hours as established by the School Board.
