When our employees are supported at every stage of life, they’re empowered to do their best work and make a meaningful impact, both personally and professionally.

What to Expect:

The Electrician Intern will participate in the Borger Refinery Craft Student Internship Program which provides opportunities for career success through hands‑on learning experiences. It is important for student interns to participate as contributing and active members of their craft or operation's team. Interns are expected to effectively communicate with all levels of the team and to ask questions that facilitate learning while respecting the professional demands and experience of their co‑workers.

The anticipated internship start date in March 2027. Interns will continue to work during the Spring/Summer/Fall semesters and will work with their supervisor to set a part time work schedule around their classes and other educational obligations.

  • Learn about health, safety and environmental hazards
  • Witness the work authorization permit system

  • Learn how to recognize and report incidents and near‑misses
  • In addition to the above, the Craft intern may:
  • Attend daily crew meetings
  • Learn how to apply craft skills in the refinery
  • Witness work being performed by experienced craftsman based off of weekly maintenance work schedule
  • While learning on the job (and practicing when possible), students are expected to:
  • Stop unsafe work or practices
  • Demonstrate work‑related knowledge
  • Work well on diverse teams
  • Effectively use multiple information sources
  • Demonstrate cooperative and active participation in activities
  • Show a willingness and enthusiasm to learn
What You’ll Bring – Required:

    • Wear fire retardant clothing and personal protective equipment (such as steel‑toe shoes, ear and eye protection)
    • Read English at a level to understand written safety procedures, work procedures, work permits and instruction manuals
    • Learn computer software associated with process operations
What Makes You Stand Out – Preferred:
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
