Texas State University Round Rock campus is seeking a journey-level Electrician to perform installation, maintenance, and repair of campus electrical systems. You will handle lighting, PMs, and on-call duties, contributing to reliable power for facilities and events.

Ideal candidates have NEC knowledge, troubleshooting skills, and experience with electrical trade tools, with willingness to work rotating on-call shifts and coordinate with the facilities team.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of National Electrical Code and applicable laws, construction standards, mechanical concepts, and electrical systems and circuitry.
  • Skill in troubleshooting electrical equipment and diagnosing problems in circuitry.
  • Skill in use of trade equipment, tools, and calculations, including formulae, voltage, resistance, amperage, wattage, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Perform journey-level electrical work including installation, maintenance, and repair of campus electrical systems and equipment.
  • Work includes lighting and PMs on the Round Rock campus; assist with special events and furniture moves.
  • Identify irrigation problems and report to supervisor; perform routine PMs and light repairs.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for the Round Rock Facilities group; identify and replace failed components.
  • Provide technical support at sporting and other events; reset power during malfunctions.

Job Description

Perform journey-level electrical work including installation, maintenance, and repair of campus electrical systems and equipment.

Job Duties

  • Work performed includes performing all electrical work assignments, including lighting and PMs, on the Texas State University Round Rock campus.
  • Assist w/ special event setups.
  • Assist w/ furniture moves.
  • Help identify irrigation problems and report back to supervisor.
  • Perform PMs and light repairs at the CUB .
  • Participate in on-call rotation for the Round Rock Facilities group.
  • Identify, remove, and replace inoperative lamps, ballasts, lamp holders, switches, fixtures, receptacles, breakers, panels, and switchgears.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, replace, and perform preventative maintenance on electrical equipment.
  • Restore electricity to buildings or equipment by identifying the reason for outage, rerouting power and making necessary repairs.
  • Analyze and repair or replace receptacles, circuit breakers, panel boards, switch gear, motor starters, and wiring connections.
  • Provide technical support at sporting and other special events.
  • Perform routine housekeeping duties in the shop area, and equipment rooms.
  • Reset power supply during malfunctions.
  • Install conduit, boxes, fittings, and electrical equipment and pull wire for circuits.
  • Time keeping, part ordering, and database research.
  • Works various schedules and is required to be on call.
  • Required to carry a cell phone.
  • Operate university vehicle.
  • Complies with all state and university policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
