Job summary

Brevard County is seeking an experienced electrical trades technician for the Public Works Department, Facilities Management unit. The role is full time, based in North Area Titusville, with a schedule of Monday to Friday 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m., and may require evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Salary ranges from $24.05 to $26.46 per hour, with negotiation based on qualifications. The position involves skilled installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of electrical systems, and requires

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of experience in commercial electrical systems.
• Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver's license.
• Must pass a Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) background check.
• In the event of a hurricane or disaster, perform emergency duties as directed.

Job Description

Performs skilled crafts and trades work in the installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of electrical systems, equipment, fixtures and structures. An employee in this class performs duties in accordance with standard practices of electrical trade and is allowed considerable latitude in determining methods and work procedures.

Requirements

• Three (3) years of experience in commercial electrical systems. Successful completion of coursework in electrical technology at an accredited vocational-technical school or community college may be substituted for the required experience on a year for year basis [30 semester (45 quarter) hours = one year experience. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
• Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment.
• Must be able to successfully pass a Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) background check administered by the Brevard County Sheriff's Office.
• In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
