Job summary

Spartan Emergency Response in Charlotte, MI is seeking a Production Electrical assembler responsible for installing and wiring harnesses to ensure electrical function of emergency response cabs and bodies.

You will read electrical schematics, assemble harnesses, coordinate with engineering, and contribute to process improvements while maintaining quality and safety in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand basic electrical schematics.
  • Assemble and reconfigure wiring harnesses for proper electrical function.
  • Interact with engineering to ensure correct harness installation.
  • Follow detailed operator instructions and blueprints.
  • Perform rework as needed and maintain a clean, safe work area.
  • Support process improvements and 5S in the work area.
  • Communicate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues.

SUMMARY:

The Production Electrical position is responsible for the installation and wiring of harnesses to ensure the electrical function of Spartan’s emergency response cabs and bodies.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Read and understand basic electrical schematics
  • Assemble and reconfigure wiring harnesses to ensure proper performance of electrical functions
  • Interact with electrical engineering to ensure wire harnesses are correctly assembled and installed
  • Learn and retain skills and practices needed to complete assembly in assigned area
  • Read and follow detailed operator instructions, installation drawings, blueprints, etcetera, as required by a particular area
  • Perform rework, as needed
  • Understand, and be able to articulate, the production flow of an assigned product line or area
  • Self-check work and inspect prior processes
  • Use basic hand, electric, cordless, and pneumatic tools, as required
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Initiate process improvements
  • Support 5S in work area
  • Communicate with manufacturing and other cross-functional teams (engineering, materials, purchasing, sales, etcetera) to resolve issues
  • Work in close proximity with customer, as needed
  • Solve complex problems with minimal assistance
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Strong and consistent attention to detail
  • Self-motivated with the ability to stay on task
  • Team oriented
  • Capable of comprehensive listening (understanding the message(s) that is being communicated)
  • Basic computer skills are required
  • Knowledge of basic automotive wiring theory and application
  • Knowledge of Spartan Chassis’ wiring theory and application preferred
  • Be willing to:
    • Improve self / area / company (including pursuing additional training, if needed)
    • Develop a working knowledge of Spartan’s systems (example: AS/400)
  • Able to work overtime on short notice
