About this Role

Helper/Laborer for Southern Electric Corporation. Employees in these personnel classifications must be alert and capable of working in construction or industrial environments around moving machinery and complex work situations. They must be arduous and receptive to instructions and procedures involving light, heavy, and/or manual tasks requiring physical exertion.

What You'll Do

• Adhere to all Company Safety and Health Policies while conducting Company business.
• Attend training classes as prescribed by the Training Department.
• Work under the direct observation of a Journeyman Lineman and/or other supervision to assist in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electric-power generation, transmission, and distribution equipment, underground cables, and related facilities.
• May be required to work on or near energized parts, but only under the direct observation of a Journeyman Lineman and/or a Journeyman Lineman Foreman.
• Assist in setting guard poles, string lead line, and string conductor.
• Assist in the sleeving, sagging, clipping, and dead ending conductors, shield wires, and fiber cables.

What You'll Bring

• May be required to relocate as work requirements demand.
• May work in storm restoration operations to rebuild and/or repair damaged power systems.
• May attend training classes or seminars to gather knowledge of new processes, safety regulations, and/or refresher training.
• Works with supervision.

Physical Qualifications

• Lifting and handling materials up to 60 pounds unassisted.
• Must be able-bodied and free of physical impairment.
• Walking and working across uneven terrain.
• Exposure to hot and cold weather conditions.
• Climbing on and off large trucks and equipment.
