Job summary

Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville, NC, seeks an experienced Electrician to install, maintain and repair electrical systems for energy storage, transmission and control within the hospital environment.

The role requires a high school diploma, trade school training, and an electrician's license is preferred, with at least 5 years of electrical maintenance experience. Valid NC driver's license is required. Work is in the Engineering department during days shifts.

Responsibilities

• Conduct preventive maintenance in accordance with the established scheduling system
• Inspect, diagnose, test, install, maintain and repair electrical equipment
• Conduct routine rounds of the facility and perform a variety of routine service and repair tasks to monitor and maintain electrical systems and equipment
• Make necessary repairs and maintain essential electrical life safety systems including but not limited to, fire alarm system, emergency generators, switchgear, transfer switches, etc.
• Complete in-service for physical plant, building, HVAC and Life Safety systems and equipment
• Participate in performance improvement and information management activities
• Investigate incidents involving the physical plant, electrical systems/equipment and components and utility system components and equipment and makes recommendations to supervisor
• Provide technical assistance to department staff by trouble shooting and resolving problems associated with the operation and repair of the physical plant, electrical systems/equipment and components and utility system components and equipment
• Perform periodic inspections of mechanical and electrical rooms and corrects physical plant, building and life safety deficiencies
• Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

Education And Formal Training

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Trade or vocational school graduate required
• Electrician's license preferred
• Valid North Carolina driver's license required

Work Experience

• 5 years of electrical maintenance related experience required

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities Required

• Ability to communicate with employees, patients, visitors, vendors, construction contractors

Physical Requirements

• Ability to move throughout the Medical Center
• Visual acuity for reviewing written reports
• Ability to climb ladders and stairs for access to construction areas
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds
• Exposure to temperature extremes from boiler room to air-conditioned areas
• Work in areas of high tool noise levels
• Exposure to high-speed cutting tools, electrical wires, and equipment, sealing agents, adhesives, and demolition debris
• Works near machinery and resultant dust of construction
