University of Illinois Chicago is seeking a skilled Electrician to install, repair and maintain electrical distribution systems across its health sciences facilities and campus infrastructure. You will perform routine maintenance, troubleshoot controls, fire alarm and access control systems, and coordinate with facilities teams.

The position requires a journeyman electrician with at least five years of hands-on experience, including hospital environments, and a solid understanding of NFPA 72 and

Qualifications

  • Journeyman Electrician with ≥5 years of experience (including apprenticeship).
  • Experience with fire alarm installation, programming, troubleshooting and testing (≥5 years).
  • Experience with access control and security systems installations (≥5 years).
  • Hospital work experience (≥2 years).
  • Knowledge of NFPA 72 and NFPA 101.
  • Proficiency with computers and basic software.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs, and maintains electrical equipment, distribution systems, controls and signal equipment.
  • Inspects the work site and determines material and tools requirements, and methods of repair.
  • Lays out work, assembles equipment, and fabricates distribution runs.
  • Installs new work and completes small remodeling work.
  • Inspects the work site and determines material, equipment, and tool requirements and method to be used.
  • Plans, lays out, installs and assembles material and fixtures as required by scope of work.
  • Repairs, maintain and calibrates electrically operated controls and devices, such as communication devices, signals devices, fire warning and security devices, patient care equipment at the Health Sciences Center etc.
  • Perform related duties as required within classification specifications.

The electrician is responsible for the installation, repair, and maintenance of electrically powered systems and equipment, including distribution systems and equipment. Must have knowledge and follow accepted procedures and techniques of the electrical trade.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Repairs, and maintains electrical equipment, distribution systems, controls and signal equipment.
  • Inspects the work site and determines material and tools requirements, and methods of repair.
  • Lays out work, assembles equipment, and fabricates distribution runs.
  • Responsible for transporting tools, material, and equipment to the work site.
  • Installs new work and completes small remodeling work.
  • Inspects the work site and determines material, equipment, and tool requirements and method to be used.
  • Plans, lays out, installs and assembles material and fixtures as required by scope of work.
  • Repairs, maintain and calibrates electrically operated controls and devices, such as communication devices, signals devices, fire warning and security devices, patient care equipment at the Health Sciences Center etc.
  • Perform related duties as required within classification specifications.

Minimum Qualifications Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience sufficient to qualify as a journeyman Electrician, with a minimum of five (5) years (60 months) of actual work in the trade, including apprenticeship or vocational training. The trade for this purpose shall include work normally performed by Electricians i.e. installing, maintaining, and/or repairing electrical systems, generators, transformers, motors and other electrical/electronic controls, electrical switchboard and other apparatus utilizing electricity, electrical, electronic and direct digital control systems, fire and alarm systems, and associated electrical, electronic and fiber optic equipment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience sufficient to qualify as a journeyman Electrician, with a minimum of five (5) years (60 months) of actual work in the trade, including apprenticeship or vocational training.   • Experience with TJC requirements and documentation.
  • Experience with computers, having a good knowledge of computer systems and software.
  • Experience in the design of low voltage applications.
  • Knowledge of NFPA 72 and NFPA 101.
