Job summary

Elizabeth River Crossings maintains the electrical systems supporting the Elizabeth River Tunnels and related facilities. The Electrician performs hands-on troubleshooting, repair, installation, and preventive maintenance on power distribution, lighting, motors, instrumentation, controls, and facility electrical systems to keep critical transportation infrastructure operating safely.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Valid state-issued Journeyman or Master Electrical License required.
Minimum of four years of electrical repair and maintenance experience required.
Knowledge of wiring, circuitry, electrical systems, tools, equipment, materials, and applicable codes and standards.
Ability to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain high- and low-voltage electrical systems and related equipment.
Strong organization, attention to detail, communication, and coordination skills.

Responsibilities

Troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain electrical and electro‑mechanical systems, including wiring, motors, lighting controls, instrumentation, and related equipment.
Respond to outages, equipment failures, and emergency repair needs to restore safe and reliable operation.
Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, diagnostics, adjustments, and documentation for electrical systems and equipment.
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, drawings, and technical documentation.
Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout, and perform work in compliance with applicable NEC, OSHA, NFPA, and company requirements.
Complete work orders, document time and materials used, and maintain accurate records for repairs, inspections, supplies, and equipment.
Monitor contractor work, support other departments, communicate issues to leadership, and assist with special projects as assigned.
