Key Responsibilities:
- Production Equipment Maintenance: Install, maintain, and troubleshoot electrical and control systems on ice cream processing machinery, including mixers, pasteurizers, freezers, conveyors, and packaging equipment.
- PLC & Automation Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair programmable logic controllers (PLCs), human-machine interfaces (HMIs), and automation controls to minimize production downtime.
- Refrigeration & Temperature Control: Ensure proper operation of refrigeration, chilling, and temperature monitoring systems critical to ice cream production.
- Compliance & Safety: Maintain compliance with food manufacturing safety standards (FDA, SQF, HACCP) and national, state, and local electrical codes.
- Preventive Maintenance: Perform regular inspections, predictive maintenance, and calibration of electrical components to optimize efficiency and minimize breakdowns.
- Technical Documentation: Maintain accurate logs of system modifications, electrical repairs, and troubleshooting steps to ensure regulatory compliance.
- Collaboration: Work closely with production, maintenance, and quality assurance teams to improve automation and efficiency in the ice cream production process.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in electrical maintenance within food manufacturing, dairy processing, or frozen dessert production.
- Education: Associate’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, or a related field preferred.
- Licensure & Certifications: Valid state electrician license or journeyman certification required; PLC or industrial automation certifications (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, etc.) are a plus.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in reading electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel layouts; experience with PLC programming and troubleshooting.
- Food Industry Knowledge: Understanding of food processing equipment, sanitary design, and safety regulations for food-grade electrical components.
- Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills to diagnose and repair complex electrical and automation issues.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift heavy equipment, work in cold environments, and perform maintenance in confined spaces.
- Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to document work and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
