Job Summary:The Electrician is responsible for performing Journeyman level duties related to electrical components and systems such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment.Pay Rate: $38.98 per hour. This will be a union positionShift: Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pmEssential Job Functions:Works from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specificationsLocates and diagnoses trouble in the electrical system or equipmentSolves standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment using a variety of electrician’s hand tools and measuring and testing instruments.Document actions, testing results, observations, final diagnosis of the situation and steps taken to resolve issues for each job or situationRepair electrical issues by replacing or installing components, wiring or devicesDetermine the steps necessary to assess an electrical situation using testing devices, blueprints and mapsMaintain a safe work environment by adhering to all company guidelines and OSHA safety requirements and also through reporting violations of policies, procedures and guidelines to immediate supervisorUse ladders, scaffolding, platform and lifts to work on electrical systems in residential homes, on roadside poles and in commercial propertiesAnswer emergency calls quickly, assess the safety of the situation upon first arriving at the scene and provide directions to individuals affected by the electrical emergency to ensure their continued safety and comfortMaintain equipment to ensure it is in good condition and can operate or be used safely; report any issues to immediate supervisorOther duties as assigned.Required Skills, Experience, and Education:Minimum of Electrician Journeyman License Required in VA, MD, or DC3-5 years of progressive, hands-on experience in a commercial and industrial settingProficiency with National Electrical Codes and Local CodesAbility to read blueprintsValid Driver’s LicenseAbility to pass a background check and obtain a security clearance, upon hireAbility to prioritize tasks and manage time effectivelyAbility to work both in a team as well as independentlyEquipment Used: Hand tools necessary to complete daily maintenance and repair tasks. Office equipment such as tablets, computers, phones, printers.Working Environment: Work takes place in a large, complex facility with exposure to varying noise levels due to equipment.
