An established industry player is seeking an Electrician Apprentice to assist in the electrical/control trade. Job description

Assist Journeyperson in all aspects of electrical/control trade, maintaining shop machinery, tools, equipment, and reading/interpreting blue prints. Gain knowledge and experience during the apprentice training period. Upon successful completion of apprenticeship, employee will be classified as a Journeyperson.

This position is covered by the BTC Collective Bargaining Agreement. Starting rate of pay for an Electrician Apprentice is $19.22.

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Mechanical aptitude for equipment repair and maintenance
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, customer relations skills, and the ability to work in a team environment
  • Must belong to the local Electrician Union or be able to join within 30 days after starting employment at Cornell
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license; may be required to operate a motor vehicle (your own vehicle or Cornell-owned) to travel to/from job sites
  • Ability to maintain safe work environment
  • Risk exposure to asbestos, toxic vapors, heat, cold, height and accumulated dirt Availability to work overtime as duties require, including weekends
  • Possibility of shift work
  • Able to ascend and descend heights and have agility and freedom of movement Climb stairs and ladders
  • Able to move easily in confined spaces
  • Ability to wear a respirator and other employer-provided safety equipment
  • Ability to lift and/or move at least 50 pounds

Preferred Qualifications

  • Work experience in the electrical/control field and formal training beyond high school strongly desired
