Job summary

Carondelet St. Marys Hospital is seeking an experienced electrical technician to maintain and troubleshoot hospital equipment, ensure safety, and support patient care facilities.

You will work with a team to keep critical systems up, meet preventive maintenance goals, and follow CHN safety standards. This role emphasizes reliability, documentation, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED (G.E.D.).
  • Experience: Minimum of five years, preferably in a hospital setting.

Responsibilities

  • Understand, interpret and model the values of CHN. Align unit/department vision with CHN mission.
  • Use lockout/tagout procedures; be knowledgeable of MSDS; follow safety policies and procedures.
  • Use proper tools, diagnose/troubleshoot equipment; complete work with minimal supervision.
  • Maintain 95% completion of preventive/corrective maintenance on assigned equipment; prioritize life-safety work.
  • Coordinate with management to notify departments of system shutdowns; document work orders; assist training of new staff.

Job Summary

Position is held by an incumbent who has reached a high degree of proficiency in the electrical craft and is able to work independently, with minimal supervision. Incumbent receives instructions verbally, from work orders and from preventative maintenance instruction sheets.

Responsibilities
  • Understand, interpret and model the values of CHN. Clearly and consistently communicate these values to staff and all others with whom we work. Ensure that unit/department vision is in alignment with and support CHN mission and values.
  • Utilize proper lockout/tagout procedures. When working with hazardous waste or materials be knowledgeable or M.S.D.S. data. Be knowledgeable of any and all codes governing the project. Remove all debris and material from work area upon job completion. Follow all emergency and safety policies and procedures of CHN. Uses time management in organizing and prioritizing workload to provide optimal service to the department and the network. Identifies location of Hazardous Communication Manual(s) and identifies use of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS). Describes the procedure for handling spills involving hazardous materials and wasteDefines the acronym RACER. Responds with appropriate phone numbers to call to report emergencies. Describes location of Emergency Preparedness Manual and describe primary component.Identifies location of Unit Safety Plan Manual and describes the evacuation plan for the specific environment. Identifies the location of fire pull-stations, hand-held fire extinguishers, and emergency power outlets for the specific environment.
  • Use the proper tool for the job. Arrive at the job with all tools and materials required to properly perform the task. Ability to diagnosis/troubleshoot equipment problems efficiently. Complete work in accordance to specific environment standards with minimal supervision. Consistently and accurately inventories and maintains supplies. Installs and maintains electrical distribution and control systems in the facilities. Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, sketches, electrical schematics, operating manuals, and manufacturers’ specifications.
  • Maintain a constant 95% completion of preventive and/or corrective maintenance on assigned equipment. Prioritization of work orders, i.e. life safety equipment, patient care etc.Uses sound judgement in solving problems specific to work area. Ensure that management approves material or equipment purchases.
  • Respond in an appropriate manner to the needs and expectations of all customers. Coordinate with management to ensure that affected departments are given proper written notice of system shut down. Accurately maintain workorder documentation in a timely manner. Demonstrates willingness to train new employees. Receives coaching and direction in a respectful and professional manner. Utilizes a teamwork approach with specific environment. Demonstrates appropriate communication skills and the ability to be an effective team me.
