Job summary

Oakland University is hiring for a Campus Maintenance and Trades role (MEA/NEA). The position is full-time, 40 hours per week, on-site in Rochester, MI, with a starting hourly rate of $39.08 and $40.29 after probation.

The job requires a high school diploma or equivalent, a Michigan journeyman's card or Master Electrician license, and six years of related experience across electrical, plumbing and mechanical systems. A valid driver’s license is also required.

Qualifications

Experience with commercial, industrial and residential electrical systems.
Ability to interpret building schematics related to electrical and mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

Maintain and repair electrical systems across campus facilities.
Interpret schematics and coordinate with plumbing/mechanical teams as needed.
Perform tasks without supervision while ensuring safety compliance.

Salary Range/Pay Rate $39.08/hour starting, $40.29/hour after probation

This position is an Oakland University Campus Maintenance and Trades – MEA / NEA position. The incumbent will be represented by the MEA / NEA.

Position Information

Minimum Qualifications

High school graduation or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Electrical journeyman’s card or Master Electrician License from the State of Michigan and proof of six years of continuing job related experience dealing specifically with a variety of commercial, industrial and residential electrical systems.
Candidate must also possess a working knowledge of other skilled trades including plumbing and mechanical installations as these may impact electrical installations and repairs.
Ability to interpret building schematics as they apply to electrical and mechanical systems.
Ability to repair equipment in a professional manner.
Ability to work without supervision.
Ability to perform work requiring frequent standing, reaching, walking, bending, pulling, pushing, climbing on a ladder and lifting in order to perform various electrical maintenance and repair tasks; frequent lifting requiring the execution of up to sixty pounds to move and use tools, equipment, and the application of electrical procedures.
Must possess a valid driver’s license and driving record acceptable to the University by the University’s insurance carrier.

Desired Qualifications

State of Michigan Master Electrician License.

Unless otherwise required by an applicable collective bargaining agreement, all minimum, additional and desired qualifications are preferred, but qualifications, degrees, and/or experience deemed comparable and/or equivalent by Oakland University in its sole and exclusive discretion may be considered.

Position Purpose

The successful candidate will be part of a skilled trades team responsible for campus-wide maintenance activities.
