Job summary

US United States Fleet Forces Command is seeking qualified personnel to demonstrate expertise in shipboard electrical work, skilled in reading blueprints, interpreting specifications, and applying electrical trade theory.

Applicants should show they can lay out work, operate testing equipment, and follow safety rules such as lockout/tagout to ensure reliable and safe shipboard electrical installations and maintenance.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, sketches, and electrical schematics.
• Ability to lay out work, operate various machines, and utilize test equipment such as multimeters, meggers, and ammeters.
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge of shipboard electrical installation techniques and processes.
• Ability to operate a variety of power and hand tools (e.g., drill presses, hydraulic punches, grinders). A solid mathematical background and the ability to apply electrical trade theory to perform both routine and complex work.
• Ability to apply electrical trade theory to perform both routine and complex work.
• Ability to utilize systems such as power and lighting, alarm systems, and motor controllers.
• Ability to understand electrical safety practices.
• Ability to follow all prescribed safety rules, especially concerning energy isolation (lockout/tagout).
• Ability to apply electrical theory to troubleshoot faulty circuits and identify problem areas.
