The Chronicle Of Higher Education, Inc. is seeking an Electrician for Columbia Basin College to handle journey-level electrical work including installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems. This full-time role involves troubleshooting, complying with safety standards, and participating in a rotating standby schedule. Applicants should have a valid Washington State Electrical License, and experience in industrial settings is preferred.

Columbia Basin College ("CBC" or the "College") seeks an Electrician to perform journey-level electrical work in the installation, maintenance, repair, and modification of electrical systems and equipment for institutional facilities on 750‑volt and below systems. This position maintains interior wiring, power and communication circuits, panels, motors, and related electrical components to ensure safe and reliable campus operations. Work includes troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems, replacing components, interpreting blueprints and specifications, performing preventative maintenance, and developing preliminary cost estimates for installations and repairs. This position reports to the Maintenance Specialist 4.

Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; operate personal computer with general understanding of application software; ability to learn office and College‑specific software.
Design Skills: Generate creative solutions; translate concepts and information into images; use feedback to modify designs; apply design principles; demonstrate attention to detail; use automated monitoring and control systems; estimate time and materials; use arc and gas welding equipment.
Safety and Security: Observe safety and security procedures; determine appropriate action beyond guidelines; report potentially unsafe conditions; use equipment and materials properly; knowledge and observance of principles of operational hazards and safety practices of HVAC trade.
Quality: Demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness; look for ways to improve and promote quality; apply feedback to improve performance; monitor own work to ensure quality.

This position is a full‑time, overtime eligible classified staff position. The typical work hours for this position are Tuesday through Friday from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; however, the employee must be available to work a flexible schedule when prior notice is given by the College. This position is available immediately.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, stand, bend, kneel, stoop, communicate, reach, and manipulate objects. The position requires mobility, including frequent traveling between buildings on campus and driving employer vehicles off and around campus. Duties involve physical strength, agility and endurance to bend/reach, lift, pull or push objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis, 80 pounds with help from others or by mechanical means and climb a ladder and work from heights no more than 80 feet off the ground. Manual dexterity and coordination are required while operating equipment such as standard office equipment and grounds/maintenance equipment.
Work environment is performed in multiple locations such as atypical office environment, field and indoor/outdoor settings that includes some exposure to hazards or physical risks that require following safety and driving requirements. There may be exposure to chemical hazards requiring the use of rubber safety gloves and safety glasses as provided. Interruptions occur on a regular basis. There can be exposure to adverse weather conditions and unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust and/or uneven surfaces while performing the duties of this position.
