Job summary

The Hampton Roads Connector Partners JV (HRCP) is looking for an Electrician to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems on construction sites in Norfolk, VA. You will ensure compliance with codes, test and inspect equipment, and work from drawings and diagrams.

Responsibilities include wiring, testing, and replacing components, while adhering to safety procedures. Ability to work overtime, climb ladders, and operate in harsh environments is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience with hand tools, power tools and electronic test equipment.
  • Ability to read schematics, blueprints and wiring diagrams.
  • Knowledge of medium voltage and electrical systems.
  • Ability to work in high, confined, hazardous spaces and outdoors.
  • Willingness to work overtime and shifts (day/night/weekends).

Responsibilities

  • Replace faulty components and mount electrical equipment.

USD 41.00 Hourly | HRBT Expansion Project in Norfolk, VA, United States Full Time

As an Electrician in construction, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and equipment on construction sites. Your work will ensure that electrical installations meet code and project requirements, contributing to the safe and efficient operation of buildings and facilities.

Repairs, installs, replaces, and tests electrical circuits, cables, equipment, and connectors.

Uses hand tools and testing equipment.

Inspects and tests electrical equipment, lighting, signal, communication, and power circuits.

Isolates defects in wiring, switches, motors, and other electrical equipment using general and specialized testing equipment.

Replaces faulty switches, sockets, and other elements of electrical systems.

Dismantles electrical machinery and replaces defective electrical or mechanical parts such as gears, brushes, and armatures.

Mounts motors, transformers, and lighting fixtures into position and completes circuits according to diagram specifications.

Works from drawings, blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

Performs all work in accordance with established safety procedures.

Participates in special projects as required.

Able to work on and climb ladders, work in extreme temperature environments, aboard ships, in shipyards, under industrial conditions and in confined spaces.

Must be able to lift, carry and transport heavy equipment and boxes up to 75 lbs.

Qualifications
Required
Preferred

Must be 18 years in age or older

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred

Experience working with hand tools, power tools and electronic test equipment

Understand schematic diagrams, blueprints, and other specifications

Working knowledge of switchgear, motor control centers, AC motors, generators, machinery/mechanisms, frequency inverters, etc.

Experience working with medium voltage is desired

Ability to work in high, confined, and hazardous spaces

Ability to crawl, stand, stoop, bend, crouch, kneel, sit, reach, routinely lift heavy objects, push, and pull objects

Ability to work overtime and flexible hours (day/night/weekends)

Ability to work outdoors with exposure to all weather conditions

Knowledge and working experience of DOT standards and regulations

Ability to communicate with others to convey information effectively

Knowledgeable of safety procedures and practices
