Job summary

RWJBarnabas Health is seeking an Electrician to maintain electrical equipment and circuits at the RWJ New Brunswick facility. The role requires a high school diploma or technical training and 3–5 years of electrician experience, along with a New Jersey driver’s license.

The position is full‑time, with day shifts and a 40‑hour workweek, including every fourth weekend shift. Responsibilities include inspecting, testing, installing, and repairing lighting, power, and signal circuits; maintaining

Responsibilities

• Operate stationary equipment such as pumps, motors, and power-plant machinery.
• Drive various vehicles as required.

Job Title: Electrician

Location: RWJ New Brunswick, 165 Somerset Street, New Brunswick, NJ 08901

Pay Range: $29.55 - $36.94 per hour

Job Overview

Maintain all electrical equipment and circuits in safe operating condition according to the National, State, and Local Electrical Codes.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, Technical School graduate or equivalent.
• Three to five years as an Electrician.
• New Jersey Driver’s License.

Preferred

• New Jersey State Electrical License
• Healthcare Environment Experience

Scheduling Requirements

• Full‑time, days
• 40 hours per week
• Saturday/Sunday shift every fourth weekend

Essential Functions

• Performs skilled tasks such as repairs and adjustments necessary for the proper operation of mechanical, electrical, H.V.A.C., and plumbing equipment, following the priority instructed by supervision. Problems in completing the assigned work will be reported to supervision immediately.
• Inspect, test, install, and repair lighting, power and signal circuits.
• Installation or replacement of circuits and equipment as necessary.
• Knowledge of emergency generation equipment and circuits.
• Maintains chlorine equipment and makes adjustments or repairs as needed.
• Responds immediately to alarms throughout the facility.
• Performs preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment according to established procedures; inspects, calibrates, adjusts, lubricates, replaces filters, and repairs/replaces components.
• Knowledgeable in the operation of computerized systems and its related equipment and is capable of making necessary adjustments.
• Installs, troubleshoots, and repairs stationary equipment such as pumps, compressors, motors, sterilization, and power‑plant machinery.
• Ability to drive all types of automobiles, trucks, and vans, including 4‑wheel drive, automatic and manual transmission.
