Job summary

Aerotek in Rochester, NY seeks a Commercial Electrician to install and rough in conduit and wiring for new commercial buildings, reading plans and installing systems for lighting, HVAC, and controls. You will use power tools, test meters, and conduit benders, and collaborate in small crews.

This permanent, fully onsite role requires at least 5 years of commercial electrical experience, OSHA certification, safety focus, and the ability to climb ladders and work from plans.

**Job Title: Commercial Electrician**

**Job Description**

This role focuses on installing and roughing in conduit and wiring for new commercial buildings, following plans and prints provided by the general contractor. You will terminate wiring at switches, circuit breaker panels, relays, and other control devices, and install electrical systems that power lighting, heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration units. The position requires regular use of power tools, test meters, pipe threaders, and conduit benders to complete high-quality commercial electrical installations.

Responsibilities
  • Install and rough in conduit and wiring in new commercial buildings according to plans and prints provided by the general contractor.
  • Terminate wiring at switches, circuit breaker panels, relays, outlets, and other electrical control devices.
  • Wire instruments and systems that control power, lighting, heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration units in commercial facilities.
  • Measure, cut, bend, and thread conduit and pipe to specified dimensions using conduit benders and pipe threaders.
  • Pull wire through conduit and raceways, ensuring proper labeling, routing, and organization.
  • Use power tools such as saws, drills, and utility knives, as well as test meters and ohmmeters, to install and verify electrical systems.
  • Work safely with electrical systems including 227V and 480V, following all applicable safety standards and procedures.
  • Read and interpret electrical plans, prints, and schematics to execute installations accurately.
  • Collaborate closely with a small crew of 2-4 team members, maintaining clear communication throughout each project.
  • Climb up and down ladders repeatedly during the workday to access installation locations and perform overhead work.
  • Follow all site safety protocols, including the proper use of personal protective equipment and adherence to OSHA requirements.
  • Participate in ongoing safety and coordination discussions to prevent injuries and ensure efficient project completion.
Essential Skills
  • At least 5 years of commercial electrical experience, specifically bending conduit or pipe and running wire.
  • Strong proficiency in bending conduit and pipe for commercial installations.
  • Hands‑on experience pulling wire and wiring commercial electrical systems.
  • Ability to work safely with 227V and 480V electrical systems.
  • OSHA certification and a strong safety‑oriented mindset.
  • Experience using power tools such as saws, drills, and utility knives in a construction environment.
  • Proficiency with electrical testing tools, including ohmmeters and test meters.
  • Experience in commercial construction and electrical installation.
  • Ability to read and work from electrical plans, prints, and schematics.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
