Job summary

Electrical Automation Services in Naperville, IL seeks a skilled on-site Controls Technician to install, program, and troubleshoot PLC/HMI systems. You will work 3rd shift with overtime and ensure safe operation of 480V equipment.

You will diagnose and repair packaging equipment in a manufacturing setting, maintain documentation, and collaborate with maintenance teams to minimize downtime. A High School Diploma and PLC experience are required.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and servo systems.
• Ability to troubleshoot analog and digital controls in 480V, 3-phase power distribution systems.
• Experience with electrical schematics and preventive maintenance.
• Familiarity with packaging equipment in a manufacturing environment preferred.
• Knowledge of lockout/tagout and general safety procedures preferred.
• Experience with communication protocols such as Profibus, serial and industrial Ethernet preferred.
• Experience with computerized maintenance systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform installation, configuration and troubleshooting of PLC I/O modules and control wiring.
• Program and modify PLC logic using ladder logic and HMIs.
• Troubleshoot and diagnose Profibus, serial, and Ethernet communications.
• Perform preventive maintenance on Laser Guided Vehicles, conveyors and production equipment.
• Maintain and troubleshoot encoders and load cells; diagnose 480V power distribution issues.
• Adhere to safety procedures including lockout/tagout and PPE.

Job description

Location: This position is on-site in Naperville, IL. Please apply only if you live within 37 miles of Naperville.Ability to work 3rd shift, Overtime (1.5) after 40 hours and double time after 48 hours. 10 paid holidays, PTO upon start, regular and irregular raises based on performance.Duties:Perform installation, configuration and troubleshooting of photo eyes, proximity switches, limit switches, PLC input/output modules, and all associated control wiring.Provide troubleshooting expertise of analog and digital controls with 480V, 3 phase power distribution systems, motors, variable frequency drives, servo drives, and soft starts.Maintain and troubleshoot position feedback devices encoders, and load cells.Programming and troubleshooting of PLC and HMI interfaces.Perform configuration and logic modifications to PLC control systems.
