Job summary

Puma Energy is seeking an experienced Electrical Technician to execute corrective, preventive and predictive maintenance on electrical and electronic systems at terminals, aviation depots, retail and commercial sites in the region. You will install, diagnose, test, and repair wiring and equipment per standards, using a range of tools and test devices.

Candidates should have a Trade Certificate or Diploma in Electrical Engineering, 3–5 years’ experience in oil & gas or mining, a High Voltage

Function

Under established policies, procedures and codes, this position is responsible to execute corrective, preventive and predictive electrical maintenance on all electrical and electronic equipment and components. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures per Planned Preventative Maintenance Schedules on Terminal, Aviation Depots, Retail and Commercial (B2B) sites. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem. Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other component using AS 3000:2007 Electrical Installation Wiring Rules, AS 3008:2009 Electrical Installation – Cable Selection Aware and Practice Statutory PNG Power General Wiring Codes. Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes. Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system. Use of Power loggers for Power quality and monitoring. Use a variety of tools and equipment such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment including oscilloscopes, ammeters, and test lamps. Install ground leads and connect power cables to equipment, such as motors. Repair or replace wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools. Work from ladders, scaffolds, and roofs to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures. Place conduit (pipes or tubing) inside designated partitions, walls, or other concealed areas, and pull insulated wires or cables through the conduit to complete circuits between boxes. Troubleshoot Retail Electronics and Fuel Management System including Terminal Gantry Microloads and Accuload systems, Fasten small metal or plastic boxes to walls to house electrical switches or outlets. Perform business management duties such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports and ordering supplies and equipment. Perform other duties instructed by the Maintenance Manager. To formally report to their Manager or supervisor any hazard, practice or condition that will affect safety or production or the community. All forms are completed as outlined in the procedures Any discrepancies of goods / services received are to be addressed through the Non Conformance procedures All products are to be verified at appropriate stages as outlined in procedures and a record maintained.

Requirements

• Experience: Trade Certificate / Diploma in Electrical Engineering 3-5 years’ experience as an Electrical Technician or similar role in an oil & gas or mining industry.
• Certified Electrician with High Voltage Certification.
• Electronics Troubleshooting Experience.
• Current PPL License.
• Skills: Electrical Installation Troubleshooting Communication and comprehension.
• Competencies: Ability to interpret electrical and electronic circuits, Ability to use hand and power tools, Ability to work with high voltage, Ability to read electronic schematic diagrams and blueprints, Ability to use basic methods and techniques to troubleshoot and diagnose equipment/instrument failure, Familiar with safe work practices, Ability to identify workplace hazards and/or unsafe conditions and take appropriate corrective actions.
