Maginot Support Services, Inc. (MS2USA) is seeking an experienced Electrician in Bear, Delaware to install, repair, and maintain electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, and motors up to 4,160 volts. You will read blueprints and specs and diagnose faults in electrical systems.

The role requires 3+ years of hands-on Electrical experience, adherence to NEC standards, and strict PPE/safety practices. Housing and transportation are provided by the company.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; electrician training desirable.
  • 3+ years of experience as an Electrician.
  • Experience with Bear Power Unit (BPU) and 4,160 volts.
  • Facilities maintenance experience preferred.
  • Read and interpret electrical blueprints and specs.
  • NEC knowledge and electrical safety compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Install or repair electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, motors.
  • Diagnose faults in electrical systems using blueprints and specs.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on electrical systems and equipment.
  • Repair or replace electrical equipment and systems.
  • Maintain maintenance records and safety practices.
  • Lead assigned helpers and ensure PPE compliance.

Experience & Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent. Specialized Electrician training courses is desirable.
  • Experience working with Bear Power Unit (BPU), 4,160 volts
  • (3) Three or more years of experience as an Electrician
  • Previous facilities maintenance experience preferred
  • Hands-on experience troubleshooting and repairing motors, starters, transformers, residual current devices and over current protective devices.
  • Experience with power generation equipment is highly desirable.
  • National Electrical Code experience preferred Physical Requirements/Working Environment
  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
  • Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
  • May be required to lift heavy objects whose weight may exceed 50 pounds.
  • Will be required to handle dirty parts and lubricants.
  • Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Must be able to pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification.
  • May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, fork lift, etc.
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull minimum of 50 pounds.
  • May work in maintenance shop or outside.
  • Must be able to work in a shop where the environment is drafty, noisy, and dirty.
  • May be exposed to extreme noise from operating equipment.
  • May be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts or vehicles.
Job Duties (Typical duties include the following, although specific duties vary by assignment or contract)
  • Install or repair any of a variety of electrical equipment such as generators, transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, conduit systems, or other transmission equipment
  • Must be able to work from blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications, locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment, working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment and using a variety of electrician’s hand tools and measuring and testing instruments.
  • Identify and repair circuit faults on electrical distribution systems and equipment
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance inspections on all electrical systems and equipment
  • Install new electrical equipment and systems
  • Repair or replace existing electrical equipment and systems
  • Complete maintenance and repair records
  • Identify proper materials, listed and suitable, for use on specific installations
  • Observe and follow all safety rules and procedures including wearing required personal safety equipment
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area
  • Maintain and repair electrical tools and equipment
  • Lead and advise assigned helpers
  • Maintain electrical license and current electrical education
  • When required must be capable of using Respiratory Protective Equipment (RPE) for job duties.
  • Perform other qualified duties as assigned Knowledge & Skills
  • Requires rounded training and experience usually acquired through a formal apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience
  • Capable of maintaining/repairing electrical distribution systems
  • Ability to troubleshoot and identify circuit faults across broad range of electrical applications
  • Understand the safe operation and application of instruments provided for circuit analysis and testing, including power analyzers, ground rod resistance meters, ground fault loop impedance tester, residual current device testers, and similar test equipment standard in the trade
  • Demonstrated understanding of NEC 2008 and/or BS7671 and pass an electrical trade test
  • Capable of reading blue prints, schematics, instructions, safety manuals, and other technical documentation
  • Ability to complete maintenance and work records
  • Must be able to Read, Write and Communicate effectively in English
  • Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e-mail and software applications.
