Job summary

Qualifications

  • Prior experience in electrical maintenance in healthcare, hospital, or large institutional facilities.
  • Familiarity with VA or federal government facility standards and inspection protocols.
  • Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent state credential.
  • Experience responding to after-hours or emergency electrical calls in a facilities context.
  • Comfortable working across large, multi-building campuses and adapting to shifting priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical lines, circuits, systems, and fixtures across the medical campus.
  • Troubleshoot faults and perform corrective repairs to keep systems operating safely.
  • Inspect components, panels, and wiring for defects and code compliance; take corrective action.
  • Support planned and emergency electrical work across interior and exterior campus areas, including rotations as needed.
  • Use hand and power tools safely and proficiently.
  • Coordinate with on-site supervisors to prioritize daily work orders and maintenance tasks.
  • Respond to emergency electrical situations following established campus protocols.

Akicita Federal is hiring Electricians to maintain and improve critical electrical infrastructure supporting veterans' care at the Central Alabama VA Medical Center in Montgomery, AL. These hands‑on roles keep hospital facilities safe, functional, and up to code — directly enabling VA clinical teams to serve those who served our country. You'll work alongside a skilled facilities crew in a structured, full‑time schedule with consistent hours and meaningful work every day.

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures and controls throughout the medical campus
  • Troubleshoot electrical faults and perform corrective repairs to keep facility systems operating safely and reliably
  • Inspect electrical components, panels, and wiring for defects, wear, or code compliance issues and take corrective action
  • Support planned and emergency electrical work across interior and exterior campus areas, including possible rotation to the Tuskegee campus as needed
  • Use hand and power tools common to the electrical trade safely and proficiently
  • Coordinate with on‑site facility supervisors to prioritize and complete daily work orders and maintenance tasks
  • Respond to emergency electrical situations using established contact protocols and campus procedures
