Job summary

Terrestris LLC is seeking an electrical technician for a 1-year contract in Montgomery, AL. The role runs 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays, with locations at Montgomery and Tuskegee addresses.

Responsibilities include installing electrical lines, distribution panels, and related equipment, maintaining alarms and safety systems, and diagnosing circuit issues. OSHA-30 certification and physical ability to lift 50 lbs are required; familiarity with respirator safety is preferred.

Qualifications

  • OSHA 30-hour construction certification is required.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs., work at heights and climb ladders.
  • Work in confined spaces and high temperatures.
  • Work in a noisy environment and potential hazardous exposures (asbestos, chemicals, etc.).
  • Capable of using respirator with proper fit testing.

Responsibilities

  • Install new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and fixtures.
  • Install secondary power distribution lines and circuits for various voltages.
  • Maintain industrial multiphase systems, sensors, alarm systems, and emergency warning systems.
  • Trace defects and determine placement of distribution panels and wiring.
  • Calculate electrical properties and use test equipment to verify circuits.

    • 2400 Hospital Road, Tuskegee, AL 36083
  • Requirements:
    • Authorization to work in the U.S. permanently, without sponsorship.
    • OSHA 30-hour construction certification.
    • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
    • Work at heights and climb ladders.
    • Work in confined spaces.
    • Work in high temperatures.
    • Work in a noisy environment.
    • Work may involve potential hazardous exposures such as asbestos, machine parts, soot, dirt, grease, chemicals, oil, and fumes.
    • Ability to function safely while wearing a respirator – Worker requiring an OSHA‑approved respirator and proper fit tested.
    • Standing and bending for long periods of time.
    • NFPA 70E (electrical safety) certification (Preferred).
    • Previous experience with the VA is a plus.

Typical Day
  • 8:00 a.m. through 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, Federal Holidays excluded.
  • Install new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, and associated fixtures, controls, and equipment.
  • Install secondary power distribution lines and circuits used to supply a wide range of voltages.
  • Provide maintenance to industrial multiphase systems; thermocouple sensors; electrical intrusion alarm and fire alarm system; emergency warning systems; lighting protection systems.
  • Trace hard‑to‑locate defects or problems associated with the completion of repairs and installations.
  • Determine where to place distribution panels, boxes, fittings, connections, and install wiring.
  • Calculate resistance, inductance, capacitance, power factor, current flow, temperature, and length in single and multiple raceways, conduits, and cable trays.
  • Operate basic test equipment such as signal generators, signal tracers, and oscilloscopes.
  • Use specialized measuring instruments such as voltmeters, ammeters, wattmeters, ohmmeters and meggers.
  • Able to recognize electronic parts such as resistors, capacitors, and transistors.
  • Use trade formulas to calculate common properties, e.g., voltage, voltage drop, and current capability in series and parallel circuits.
