Job summary

City of Miami Beach seeks a skilled journeyman electrician for installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in City buildings and facilities.

You will repair motors, pumps, and tools, install wiring, and assist in sewer and water pumping station maintenance. A valid Florida/ Dade County journeyman certificate and driver's license are required, with flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Qualifications

• Florida or Dade County Certificate of Competency as a journeyman electrician is required.
• Driver's license is required.
• Two years of commercial experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Job description

Skilled work at the journeyman level as an electrician.

• Performs a variety of skilled and technical mechanical work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment, fixtures and controls.

• Repairs motors, pumps and electrically powered tools.

• Installs and repairs wiring and various electrical equipment in City buildings and facilities.

• Assists in the maintenance of sewer and water pumping station facilities.

• Drives heavy duty automotive equipment, including bucket and ladder truck and ditch digger.

• Does related work as required.

• Current Florida or Dade County Certificate of Competency as a journeyman electrician.

• Driver\'s license.

• Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.

• Desired: Two (2) years of commercial experience.

Physical Requirements

• Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact.

• Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to, word processor, calculator, copier, and fax machine.

• Significant lifting, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, and crawling.
