Job summary

City of Miami Beach is seeking a journeyman electrician to perform skilled electrical work across City buildings and facilities, including installation, maintenance and repair of electrical equipment, fixtures and controls. The role requires a Florida or Dade County Certificate of Competency as a journeyman electrician, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work nights, weekends and holidays.

• Drives heavy duty equipment such as bucket and ladder trucks and ditch digger.
• Performs related work as required.

Job description

Skilled work at the journeyman level as an electrician.

• Performs a variety of skilled and technical mechanical work in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical equipment, fixtures and controls.

• Repairs motors, pumps and electrically powered tools.

• Installs and repairs wiring and various electrical equipment in City buildings and facilities.

• Assists in the maintenance of sewer and water pumping station facilities.

• Drives heavy duty automotive equipment, including bucket and ladder truck and ditch digger.

• Does related work as required.

• Current Florida or Dade County Certificate of Competency as a journeyman electrician.
• Driver's license.
• Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Desired: Two (2) years of commercial experience.

Physical Requirements:

• Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public through the use of the telephone and personal contact.

• Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to, word processor, calculator, copier, and fax machine.

• Significant lifting, climbing, carrying, bending, kneeling, and crawling.
