Job summary

CyberCoders in Memphis, TN seeks an Electrician (Manufacturing) to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and controls on production equipment.

You will collaborate with maintenance and engineering to minimize downtime, perform preventive maintenance, read schematics and P&IDs, and support continuous improvement in a food manufacturing environment. Strong safety culture and rotating shifts are required.

Qualifications

Electrician (Manufacturing)
Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Electrician to join our maintenance team at a manufacturing facility. The primary purpose of this role is to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and controls to ensure safe, reliable operation of production equipment. The Electrician will work closely with production and engineering to minimize downtime, support continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure compliance with electrical codes and safety requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install, inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems, conduit, wiring, panels, motor controls, and distribution equipment in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Diagnose and repair control systems including PLCs, sensors, relays, programmable drives (VFDs), and HMIs to restore production quickly and safely.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, routine inspections, and testing on electrical equipment to reduce unplanned downtime and extend asset life.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and technical manuals to perform accurate repairs and modifications.
  • Support conveyor, packaging, refrigeration, mixing and processing equipment electrical systems used in food production.
  • Execute lockout/tagout procedures, follow NFPA 70E safe work practices, and maintain a strong safety-first mindset on the plant floor.
  • Work with maintenance planners and engineers to schedule repairs, provide accurate time and material estimates, and document completed work in CMMS.
  • Assist with installation and commissioning of new equipment and modifications, including wiring, control panel assembly, and functional testing.
  • Provide mentorship to junior electricians, apprentices, or contractors as required and contribute to continuous improvement and reliability initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Valid electrician license, journeyman certification, or equivalent credential required; apprenticeship or formal electrician training preferred.
  • 3+ years of electrical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment; experience in manufacturing strongly preferred.
  • Proficient troubleshooting skills with PLCs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens or similar), VFDs, motor controls, relays, and instrumentation.
  • Strong knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, lockout/tagout procedures, and safe electrical work practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, P&IDs and technical documentation.
  • Experience using hand and power tools, multimeters, megohmmeters, and other electrical test equipment.
  • Familiarity with food safety practices (GMP, HACCP) and ability to follow sanitation protocols when performing maintenance.
  • Ability to work rotating shifts, overtime, and respond to emergency call-ins when required.
  • Good communication skills, a collaborative approach, and the ability to document work clearly in a CMMS.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces; a valid drivers license and forklift certification are a plus.
