Job summary

ASRC Federal Communications seeks a skilled Electrician for an ISS2 contact supporting our Air Force customer. The position is located on Wake Island with a 3 months on / 1 month off unpaid rotation. On-site dormitory housing and cafeteria meals are provided; travel from your home base to HNL is your responsibility.

Government aircraft cover Wake Island transport. Essential duties include installation, construction, and maintenance of electrical systems, reading conduit drawings and schematics,

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid Journeyman Electrician's License.
• Ability to perform associated mathematical calculations.
• Knowledge of safety management principles and practices.
• Strong MS Office and other computer skills.
• Knowledge of local, state and federal laws, ordinances, codes, and rules.
• Ability to speak, write and read English.
• Must have state driver’s license and acceptable record.
• Must pass a background check, drug screening, fingerprints, and a fit-for-duty physical exam; medically cleared for long-term residency in a remote location with limited access to healthcare.
• Candidates must be US citizens and be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Install and construct with some maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical equipment.
• Read and understand conduit drawings, schematics, drawings, and specifications.
• Use and care of tools and equipment commonly employed in industrial construction.
• Coordinate and set over-current protective devices; size feeder circuits; work on island-wide systems.

Job description

ASRC Federal Communications is seeing an Electrician for our ISS2 contact supporting our Air Force customer. This position is located on Wake Island. It’s a rotational position in which the selected employee will work a schedule of 3 months on the island and one month off unpaid, Wake Island is 2,100 miles away from HNL. While working on-site housing is provided in the form of a dormitory facility. All meals are furnished through the cafeteria. You are responsible for the flight from your home base to HNL. Transportation to wake island is provided by government sponsored aircraft. This is a negotiated union position.

Essential Duties & Job Functions

• Responsible for installation and construction with some maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical equipment

• Knowledge of the proper use of standard wire, conduit, fittings and hardware commonly found in industrial plants.

• Read and understand conduit drawings, schematics, drawings, and specifications.

• Responsible for use and care of the tools and equipment commonly employed in industrial construction, including but not limited to:

• hydraulic/electric benders,

• knockout punch sets,

• cable puller, meggers,

• hi-pot equipment,

• volt meters,

• multi-testers

• ammeter

• Able to set and coordinate over-current protective devices, size feeder circuits and basic understanding to work on systems across the island.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
