Job summary

ASRC Federal Communications seeks an Electrician for our ISS2 contract supporting the Air Force. The position is located on Wake Island and operates on a 3 months on / 1 month off rotation, with on-site dorm housing and meals provided.

Travel from your home base to HNL is required; government-sponsored aircraft handles Wake Island transport. This is a negotiated union position with remote residency though site-located duties.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Valid Journeyman Electrician's License.
  • Ability to perform calculations.
  • Knowledge of safety management principles.
  • Strong MS Office and computer skills.
  • Knowledge of local/state/federal codes and rules.
  • English reading/writing/speaking proficiency.
  • US citizenship and ability to obtain Secret clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Install, construct, and maintain electrical equipment with troubleshooting and repair.
  • Use standard wire, conduit, fittings, and hardware in industrial plants.
  • Read conduit drawings, schematics, drawings, and specifications.
  • Operate and care for tools such as hydraulic/electric benders, knockout punch sets, and meters.
  • Set and coordinate over-current protective devices and size feeder circuits.

Job description

ASRC Federal Communications is seeing an Electricianfor our ISS2 contact supporting our Air Force customer. This position is located on Wake Island. It’s a rotational position in which the selected employee will work a schedule of 3 months on the island and one month off unpaid, Wake Island is 2,100 miles away from HNL.While working on-site housing is provided in the form of a dormitory facility. All meals are furnished through the cafeteria.You are responsible for the flight from your home base to HNL. Transportation to wake island is provided by government sponsored aircraft. This is a negotiated union position.

Essential Duties & Job Functions
  • Responsible for installation and construction with some maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical equipment
  • Knowledge of the proper use of standard wire, conduit, fittings and hardware commonly found in industrial plants.
  • Read and understand conduit drawings, schematics, drawings, and specifications.
  • Responsible for use and care of the tools and equipment commonly employed in industrial construction, including but not limited to:
    • hydraulic/electric benders,
    • knockout punch sets,
    • cable puller, meggers,
    • hi-pot equipment,
    • volt meters,
    • multi-testers
    • ammeter
  • Able to set and coordinate over-current protective devices, size feeder circuits and basic understanding to work on systems across the island.
MinimumQualifications
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid Journeyman Electrician's License
  • Ability to perform associated mathematical calculations.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of safety management
  • Strong MS Office and other computer skills
  • Knowledge of pertinent local, state and federal laws, ordinances, codes, and rules
  • Ability to speak, write and read English.
  • Must have state drives licenses and acceptable record.
  • Must pass a background check, drug screening, fingerprints, and a fit-for-duty physical exam; candidates must be medically cleared for long-term residency in a remote location with limited access to healthcare.
  • Candidates must be US citizens and be able to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance.
