Seeking Journeyman Electrician / Experienced Electrician
Job Description
Energy Systems Southeast, LLC (ESSE), the Industrial Distribution Center for Generac Power Systems, is currently searching for an Electrician based out of our Birmingham office, with consideration for other locations in the Southeast.
We have a project involving installing generators & transfer switches for cell tower sites, various commercial jobs, and electrical service work. We are looking for a self-motivated lead electrician with a strong work ethic to join our team in Birmingham.
Primary Job Responsibilities and Skills:
- Perform maintenance and installation of electrical components within commercial properties and wireless cell sites, including cabinets, main distribution panels (200 amp to 2000+ amps), disconnects, meter pedestals, transformers, emergency generators, manual and automatic transfer switches.
- Manage jobs from start to finish, possibly overseeing multiple projects.
- Evaluate and select crew members for projects.
- Work with single-phase and three-phase systems (120/240, 120/240 Delta, 120/208 Y, 277/480).
- Read and interpret construction electrical drawings accurately.
- Assist with civil work such as grounding, trenching, and conduit installation; operating excavating equipment is a plus.
- Operate testing equipment including voltmeters, meg testers, ammeters, and high potential testers.
- Follow company and government operating plans and procedures, complying with NEC, OSHA, DOT standards.
- Maintain organized materials and tools, ensuring a clean work environment.
- Adhere to environmental, health, and safety policies.
- Collaborate effectively with team members.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Train and mentor team members.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 3+ years of electrical experience.
- Valid driver's license, insurable; CDL is not required.
- Ability to pass drug tests upon hiring and during employment.
- Strong work ethic, initiative, and resilience.
- Journeyman electrician license or equivalent experience and skills.
- Knowledge of NEC, electrical systems, voltage, and current in AC and DC circuits.
- Experience with all electrical systems: single-phase, three-phase, control circuits, and distribution.
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs and reliable transportation.
- Willingness to travel throughout the Southeast; company provides accommodations and travel expenses.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, and internet-based applications.
