Job summary

ENGIE Electrician in Boston, MA, supports steam, chilled water, and electrical generation operations for MATEP, LLC and related facilities. You will install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, overhaul, calibrate, and test electrical equipment that supports plant operations and site reliability.

  • Maintain and troubleshoot major plant electrical equipment, including motors, generators, transformers, automatic transfer switches, voltage regulators, and PLCs.
  • Perform maintenance and modifications to plant lighting and electrical equipment related to HVAC systems.
  • Participate in the Plant Emergency Response program, mandatory training, and other programs; maintain clean, safe work areas.

What You Can Expect

As an Electrician at ENGIE, you will support reliable steam, chilled water, and electrical generation operations for MATEP, LLC, satellite and contract facilities, and the utility distribution system. You will install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, overhaul, calibrate, and test electrical equipment that supports plant operations and site reliability. In this role, you will prepare technical data, equipment observation reports, repair logs, test documentation, and modification records to support accurate diagnostic work and equipment history. You will work closely with the Electrical Supervisor, Procurement, and site leadership to identify parts, materials, and supplies needed to complete maintenance, repair, and overhaul work safely and efficiently.

You will:

  • Maintain and troubleshoot major plant electrical equipment, including motors, generators, transformers, automatic transfer switches, voltage regulators, variable frequency drives, UPS and battery systems, electronic revenue metering, fire alarm and communication systems, protective relays, programmable protective relays, and PLCs
  • Perform maintenance and modifications to plant lighting and electrical equipment related to HVAC systems, using technical drawings, manuals, procedures, and related documentation
  • Participate in the Plant Emergency Response program, mandatory training, and other programs while maintaining work areas and shop facilities in a clean, orderly, and safe condition
What You'll Bring
  • A minimum High School Diploma or equivalent
  • A Massachusetts Journeyman's Electrician License
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Journeyman or Master Electrician in a power plant or similar power generation facility
  • Knowledge and hands‑on experience with low and medium voltage three-phase systems, including 480V, 2400V, 4160V, and 13,800V systems
Additional Details
  • This role requires attendance at a worksiteon a daily basis

  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license
  • Must be willing and able to comply with all ENGIE ethics and safety policies
  • Experience reading technical drawings, manuals, and documents and preparing technical data, equipment observation reports, repair logs, and maintenance documentation
  • Proficiency with Lock-out/Tag-out Electronic Tag System (LOTO ETS), ARC FLASH, and NFPA 70E; ability to gain understanding and effective utilization of the company Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including MAXIMO Maintenance System
  • Ability to communicate effectively, handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy, work independently and effectively with others, and see work projects through to completion
  • Willingness to acquire new skills and use technology to streamline processes and solve problems
Compensation

Hourly: $61.39 USD hourly

Your position is part of a bargaining unit represented by International Union of Operating Engineers-Local 877. Many of the terms and conditions of your employment, including but not limited to work scheduling, wages, vacation, sick leave, and other benefits, will be governed by a collective bargaining agreement (the "CBA") between the Company and the union.

This represents the average expected pay range for a qualified candidate.
