Job summary

Electrical Automation Services is seeking a hands-on technician for on-site work in Batavia, IL. You will install, configure, and troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and control wiring, with emphasis on 480V three-phase systems, motors, and servo drives.

You will also perform preventive maintenance, work with encoders and feedback devices, and ensure safe operations following lockout/tagout and other safety procedures. Relocation assistance may be available.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Demonstrated experience with PLCs and servo systems.
Experience with packaging equipment in a manufacturing environment preferred.
Thorough understanding of safety procedures preferred.
PLC programming preferred.
Experience with encoders, servomotors and amplifiers preferred.
Proficient with electrical schematics.

Responsibilities

Perform installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of photo eyes, proximity switches, limit switches, PLC I/O, and control wiring.
Troubleshoot analog/digital controls with 480V 3-phase power, motors, VFDs, and servo drives.
Maintain and troubleshoot encoders, load cells, and feedback devices.
Program and troubleshoot PLC and HMI interfaces.
Modify PLC logic and ladder logic as needed.
Diagnose HMI/SCADA communications and network protocols (Profibus, serial, industrial Ethernet).
Conduct preventive maintenance on lasers, conveyors, and production equipment.

Job description

Location: This position is on-site in Batavia, IL. Please apply only if you live within 37 miles of Batavia.

Ability to work 3rd shift, Overtime (1.5) after 40 hours and double time after 48 hours. 10 paid holidays, PTO upon start, regular and irregular raises based on performance.

Duties:

Perform installation, configuration and troubleshooting of photo eyes, proximity switches, limit switches, PLC input/output modules, and all associated control wiring.
Provide troubleshooting expertise of analog and digital controls with 480V, 3 phase power distribution systems, motors, variable frequency drives, servo drives, and soft starts.
Maintain and troubleshoot position feedback devices encoders, and load cells.
Programming and troubleshooting of PLC and HMI interfaces.
Perform configuration and logic modifications to PLC control systems. Modifications will include programming in ladder logic.
Troubleshoot and diagnose configuration and implementation of integrated and stand‑alone graphic human-machine interfaces.
Troubleshoot and diagnose specification of communication protocols, including Profibus, serial and industrial Ethernet.
Troubleshoot and diagnose equipment issues utilizing electrical schematics
Diagnose and perform preventive maintenance on Laser Guided Vehicles, conveyors, and production equipment

Education/Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent required
Demonstrated experience working with programmable logic controllers (PLCs), servo systems required.
Experienced in working with computerized maintenance systems preferred.
Experience with troubleshooting and performing maintenance on packaging equipment in a manufacturing environment preferred
Thorough understanding of manufacturing safety procedures (lockout/tagout, confine spaces, personal protective equipment, etc.) preferred
PLC programming preferred
Experience with electrical encoders, servomotors, and amplifiers preferred
Proficient with electrical schematics
