Job summary

Mission Critical Group is seeking an Electrical Tester to perform final-assembly testing and troubleshooting on electrical control and distribution equipment. You will verify quality and conformance to engineering specs, document HIPOT results, and support integration with client systems on the production floor.

The role requires 0-1 year of relevant experience, basic device programming, and strong attention to safety and procedures. Overtime may be required based on production demands.

Qualifications

• 0-1 years of experience wiring or assembling electrical control and distribution equipment, preferably in switchgear/industrial manufacturing.
• Working knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, and procedures for electrical equipment design and production.
• Understanding materials, processes, and manufacturing techniques.
• Knowledge of reading technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and testing for reliability on switchgear and electrical control equipment.
• Verify and document HIPOT tests on copper bus.
• Ensure final product matches schematics; basic device programming and repair equipment prior to shipment.
• Conduct Factory Acceptance Tests and advise on interfacing with client equipment.
• Identify defects through visual and electrical inspections and assist with repairs as needed.
• Support design verifications and reliability demonstrations during client testing with senior staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

The Electrical Tester is responsible for performing testing and troubleshooting during the final assembly phase of electrical control and distribution equipment prior to customer delivery. This role ensures product quality, compliance, and optimal functionality by verifying that all assemblies meet engineering specifications, customer requirements, and applicable industry standards. The Testing Technician works closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to identify and resolve issues before shipment.

Accountabilities

• Demonstrate technical skills regarding performing diagnostics, troubleshooting, and testing for reliability on Low, Medium, and Arc-Resistant switchgear and electrical control equipment using tools such as multimeters etc.
• Verify and document HIPOT tests on copper bus.
• Ensure final product is consistent with technical schematics, perform basic device programming, and repair all custom-built equipment prior to client shipment as a measure of quality control.
• Perform Factory Acceptance Tests to show the functionality of Mission Critical Group products and advise of interfacing capabilities with clients’ existing equipment under the direction of senior team members.
• Identify functionality or defects through visual and electrical inspections on power distribution equipment and assist senior team members with maintenance or repairs within testing guidelines.
• Assist senior team members with design verifications and product reliability demonstrations during client witness testing activities under supervision.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required knowledge/Experience

• 0-1 years of experience in wiring or assembling electrical control and distribution equipment, preferably in a switchgear or industrial manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, and procedures as applied to the design and production of electrical equipment.
• Understanding raw materials, production processes, and manufacturing techniques.
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in the production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
• Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Testing tools include MPRT, secondary injection units, digital ratiometers, CT testers, digital multimeters, Fluke meters, AC and DC high-potential testers, high-voltage testers, basic hand tools, and testing jumpers.
• Proficiency with computer hardware and software, including Microsoft Office Suite.
• Intermediate written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to read and interpret technical procedures, write reports and correspondence, and present information to managers and customers.
• Solid mathematical skills, including the ability to calculate figures, proportions, and measurements.
• Strong attention to quality with the ability to follow procedures carefully and strive for accuracy in all work.
• Self-motivated with the ability to identify and resolve issues independently while maintaining adherence to guidelines and procedures.
• Ability to work collaboratively with peers, leadership, and cross-functional teams.
• Customer-oriented with a proactive approach to supporting internal and external needs.

Preferred

• 1 year of experience troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems

Education

• High School Diploma or GED required .

Work Environment and Physical Demands

• This is a FLSA non-exempt position paid on an hourly basis. Overtime may be required based on production demands, including extended shifts, weekends, or holidays.
• This role is based on the production floor. The position requires standing for extended periods, working around machinery, and adherence to all safety and compliance standards. Mobility : Ability to move around the manufacturing plant, including walking, standing, and climbing stairs.
• Manual Dexterity : Occasional use of hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
• Lifting : Ability to lift and carry items up to fifty (50) pounds. All lifting should be done following OSHA standards.
• Visual and Auditory Requirements : Must be able to see and hear well enough to navigate the plant safely and communicate effectively with team members.
