Job summary

M.C. Dean, Inc is seeking an experienced electrical test technician to lead inspection, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and startup of LV/MV electrical distribution equipment in field and shop environments.

Travel locally and nationally is required, with international travel preferred. The role emphasizes safety, detailed documentation, and collaboration with project teams to ensure successful commissioning and startup.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years electrical experience with HS diploma or GED.
• NETA/NICET certification preferred or equivalent hands-on experience.
• Strong knowledge of ANSI, IEEE, NETA, NFPA, NEC and OSHA standards.
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and manuals.
• Proficiency with protective relays, circuit breakers, transformers and switchgear.
• Experience with test equipment such as Doble, Omicron, Megger, Vanguard and Fluke meters.
• Knowledge of insulation resistance, power factor, contact resistance.
• Knowledge of medium/high-voltage systems up to 500kV and arc flash analysis.
• Willingness to travel; work in industrial, data center and utility environments.
• LOTO and PPE compliance; maintain detailed test reports.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and lead multiple projects onsite and in-house.
• Test low/medium voltage cables, transformers, switchgear, relays and related equipment.
• Contain material costs by reducing waste.
• Rotate on-call duty and respond to emergencies.
• Foster continuous improvement and teamwork.
