Job summary

PTSG Group is seeking an Electrical Test & Remedial Engineer for regional coverage from Darlington. You will perform EICRs on commercial/industrial sites, identify faults, and carry out remedial works to ensure BS7671 compliance.

A qualified Electrician with UK driving licence is required, with strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently or in a team. The role offers a competitive salary with bonus opportunities, a company van and fuel card, and comprehensive benefits

• Qualified Electrician with NVQ Level 3/AM2 or equivalent.
• City & Guilds 2391/2394/2395 or equivalent inspection/testing qualifications.
• 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
• Experience with electrical installation in commercial environments.
• Fixed wire testing experience advantageous.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Self-motivated with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Carry out Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) on commercial/industrial installations.
• Identify faults, non-compliances and risks; produce clear, actionable reports.
• Complete remedial/rectification works to meet BS7671 requirements.
• Produce Minor Works Certificates and associated compliance docs.
• Conduct emergency lighting, RCD testing, thermographic surveys and distribution board maintenance.
• Work on-site with customers and represent PTSG to a high standard.
• Use modern testing equipment and reporting software for accurate results.
• Stay updated with regulations, standards and best practices.

Electrical Test & Remedial Engineer

Location: Darlington - Regional coverage (your office could be a school one day, a retail unit the next)

Salary: £60,000 OTE (Competitive salary + bonus opportunities, company van, fuel card and comprehensive benefits)

Hours: Normal working hours are days, however there are requirements for unsocial working to accommodate customer needs.

Thanks to continued growth, strong customer demand and ongoing contract wins, we're looking to add experienced Hybrid Testing & Remedial Electricians to our team.

This is the perfect role for someone who enjoys both the investigative side of electrical testing and the practical satisfaction of putting things right.

What you'll actually be doing (cutting through the jargon):

• Carrying out Electrical Installation Condition Reports (EICRs) on commercial and industrial electrical installations
• Identifying faults, non-compliances and potential risks, then producing high-quality reports that provide clear recommendations
• Completing remedial and rectification works following inspections, ensuring installations meet the latest BS7671 requirements
• Producing Minor Works Certificates, Remedial Completion Reports and associated compliance documentation
• Carrying out additional specialist inspections and testing, including emergency lighting, RCD testing, thermographic surveys and distribution board maintenance
• Working directly with customers on-site, providing a professional service while representing PTSG to the highest standard
• Using modern testing equipment and reporting software to deliver accurate, efficient results
• Staying up to date with industry regulations, standards and best practice

What we expect from you:

• Fully qualified Electrician with NVQ Level 3, AM2 or equivalent qualifications
• City & Guilds 2391 or 2394/2395 (or equivalent inspection and testing qualifications)
• Current 18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification
• Experience carrying out electrical installation work within commercial environments
• Fixed wire testing experience would be highly advantageous
• A full UK driving licence
• A self-motivated approach with strong attention to detail and a commitment to doing the job properly first time
• Someone who can work independently while still being a great team player
