Job summary

Blue Origin LLC is seeking a Test Engineer to support our mission to return humans to the Moon and extend human presence beyond Earth. You will lead a small team, plan and execute electrical test campaigns for flight hardware, and coordinate with internal customers.

Relocation provided, travel up to 25%, and interviews will include a technical assessment. The role emphasizes safety, collaboration, and inclusion as we build reusable launch vehicles for the lunar surface.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, CS, physics, or related field
  • 5+ years in aerospace test campaigns, with electrical test experience
  • Ability to supervise a team of 2-5 engineers
  • Experience with dispersed rapid development teams
  • Ability to foster trust and inclusion
  • Fundamentals of design (requirements, materials, interfaces)
  • CAD proficiency in Creo Pro/E for drawings
  • Strength and mechanics of materials knowledge

Responsibilities
  • Lead a small team of early career engineers through an entire electrical test campaign
  • Plan, develop and execute test procedures for flight hardware
  • Lead daily test operations, operate test consoles, direct technician work and coordinate with internal customers
  • Perform root cause, system hazard analysis and failure investigations
  • Troubleshoot issues that arise during testing
  • Develop, manage, and maintain test support equipment
  • Find opportunities for safety improvements and cost savings
  • Proactively prepare status updates and communicates both within the organization and with direct customers
  • Participate in test readiness review, pre and post test briefings, and post test reviews
  • Manage procedural redlines and updates during test campaigns
  • Coordinate test crews, support equipment and configurations for testing
  • Enforce safety policies during test planning and operations
  • Participate in the assembly and test of development and flight hardware including planning, execution, data reduction and analysis
Minimum Qualifications

  • BS or MS in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, physics, or related technical discipline
  • 5+ years experience in aerospace test campaigns, with experience in electrical test
  • Ability to assign tasking, delegate workload and supervise a team of 2-5 engineers
  • Experience working on dispersed rapid development teams, driving process development
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
  • Basic understanding in the fundamentals of design (requirements identification, material selection, input definition, form factors, interface definition, environmental considerations, etc.)
  • Basic proficiency in 3D CAD programs (Creo Pro/E preferred) including drawing creation.
  • Basic proficiency in strength and mechanics of materials.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with space vehicle component or integrated vehicle testing including GNC, Comms, EPS/CPS, EMI/EMC, and performance
  • Experience with participating in NASA technical reviews
  • Experience with test facility instrumentation and Data Acquisition and Control Systems, including troubleshooting analog and digital hardware with bench measurement equipment
  • Understands/experience with hazardous operations
  • Experience with control actuators, deployable devices (doors, landing gear, sensors, etc.), hydraulic system components, separation systems, or other mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with sensors including linear variable differential transformers, resistance temperature detectors, thermocouples, pressure transducers, and resolvers
