Job description

We are seeking an experienced Electronics Test Engineer to support the bring-up, functional testing, and design verification of advanced power electronics used in aerospace and space applications.

This is a highly hands-on, board-level test and troubleshooting role. The ideal engineer can work beyond established test procedures, interpret schematics and PCB layouts, diagnose complex electrical issues, and identify root causes down to the component and circuit level.

The position will work closely with electrical design, software, systems, and manufacturing engineering teams to identify failures, validate corrective actions, and improve overall design maturity.

Responsibilities
  • Perform board-level bring-up, functional testing, and design verification of complex power electronics PCBs.
  • Test and validate power supplies, DC/DC converters, power rails, heater drivers, analog front ends, digital interfaces, and protection circuitry.
  • Troubleshoot electrical and electronic issues using schematics, PCB layouts, component data sheets, and design documentation.
  • Investigate anomalies and perform root-cause and failure analysis at the circuit and component level.
  • Identify issues involving component failures, power sequencing, PCB layout, firmware/hardware interfaces, signal integrity, and other board-level interactions.
  • Use oscilloscopes, DMMs, electronic loads, SMUs, power analyzers, and other standard laboratory equipment to characterize and troubleshoot hardware.
  • Perform testing where procedures may still be evolving and develop or refine test steps as necessary.
  • Support environmental and qualification-related testing, including shock and other applicable test conditions.
  • Document test results, failures, root causes, and recommended corrective actions.
  • Support corrective actions and subsequent re-testing to verify solutions.
  • Collaborate with electrical design, software, systems, and manufacturing teams to improve design maturity and production readiness.
Required Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience testing, debugging, and troubleshooting complex electronic PCBs.
  • Strong board-level electrical troubleshooting experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to isolate hardware failures and determine root cause at the component and circuit level.
  • Hands-on experience testing power electronics, including DC/DC converters, power supplies, power sequencing, and protection circuitry.
  • Strong understanding of analog circuits and mixed-signal electronics.
  • Experience with SMPS, load switches, op-amps, comparators, and related circuitry.
  • Strong ability to read and troubleshoot directly from electrical schematics and PCB layouts.
  • Experience using oscilloscopes, DMMs, SMUs, electronic loads, power analyzers, and other bench instrumentation.
  • Ability to work hands-on in an engineering lab environment with high-reliability hardware.
Preferred Experience
  • Aerospace, spacecraft, defense, or other high-reliability electronics experience.
  • Experience testing spacecraft power electronics such as PCUs, PDUs, BMS/BCPM systems, heater drivers, or similar power systems.
  • Experience with shock, environmental, or qualification testing.
  • FPGA, microcontroller, or microprocessor-based control and telemetry experience.
  • Ability to write scripts or develop basic test automation.
  • Experience troubleshooting mixed-signal interactions involving ADCs, analog front ends, digital interfaces, timing, or firmware/hardware communication.
  • Experience validating protection circuitry, including over-voltage, under-voltage, current limiting, soft-start, sequencing, and fault protection.
  • Knowledge of EMI/EMC, grounding, shielding, and noise mitigation techniques.
  • Experience with Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) processes.
  • Ability to identify subtle or latent design issues involving component tolerances, thermal effects, PCB layout, noise, or component selection.
  • Experience partnering directly with design engineers to recommend schematic, component, or board-level design changes.
