Job summary

Consolidated Edison Company of New York is seeking an Electrical Technician to support protective system testing for one of the world’s largest cities. You will learn to test complex circuits, read schematics and train in a state-of-the-art Learning Center and in the field with hands-on experience.

You will study protective relay systems, substation equipment, and testing procedures, while traveling to various sites within the service territory to ensure safe, reliable power delivery.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Electrical Technology or relevant alternate
• Military programs or high school with related coursework accepted

Responsibilities

• Learn to test complex circuits, read AC and DC schematics, interpret wiring diagrams and relay logic.
• Participate in in-house classroom and lab training plus field hands-on training.
• Learn operation, maintenance and testing of protective relay systems and transmission/distribution equipment.
• Perform testing, troubleshooting and repairs on protective relays, substation equipment, control systems and telephones lines.
• Travel to locations within the company service territory and ensure work is performed efficiently.
