Job summary

Universal Instruments in the United States is seeking an electronics technician to empower our electrical engineering program by developing and testing analog and digital circuits and related systems.

You will assist in prototype build, debugging, and provide technical data to engineers; coordinate with vendors; prepare sketches and reports; support design, layout, and testing.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with 3+ years in analog/digital circuitry.
• Associate degree in electronics or electrical engineering preferred.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and test circuitry.
• Experience with cable fabrication.

Responsibilities

Job description

Summary:

This role seeks to empower our electrical engineering program and engineers, through assisting in development and testing of analog circuits, digital circuits and associated systems.

Principal Accountabilities:

• Performs diverse, complex technical assignments in development, modification and alteration of our products and/or processes.

• Helps build and debug prototype circuits designed by engineers.

• Aids engineers in searching, investigating and selection of technical reference data pertinent to assigned projects, utilizing engineering texts, current journals and other informational sources.

• Aids engineers as a liaison between internal departments and vendors, in obtaining technical information.

• Gives feedback results of debugging/testing of analog and digital circuits to Design Engineering.

• Prepares preliminary sketches and design drawings, engineering specifications and reports for approvals.

• Provides technical assistance in the area of design, layout and circuitry design, material procurements, construction and testing of experimental models.

• Compiles and organizes technical data and prepares reports and recommendations on project assignments for evaluation by engineers.

• Initiates and expedites engineering changes resulting from evaluations, and forwards to the design group.

• Supports manufacturing, field engineering and customers in problem solving, including machine debugging.

• Performs special assignments as required.

Minimum Requirements:

• High School Diploma with 3+ years of relevant work experience in analog/digital circuitry.

• Associate Degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering with 2+ years of experience is preferred.

• Relevant work experience includes ability to read electrical schematics, test circuitry, and perform cable fabrication.

• Equivalent course work in vocational or military training is favorable

Responsibility for Quality Procedures or Direct Product Quality:

• Adheres to Universal Quality System policies and procedures and uses Total Cycle Time principles and standard problem solving tools to continuously improve work processes.

Physical Demands:

• Frequently required to access and manipulate various objects, tools, or controls.

• Regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is regularly exposed to vibration.

• The employee must occasionally move heavy objects of at least 25lb.

• The noise level in this type of work environment is usually loud; where necessary, hearing protection equipment is provided.
