  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and diagrams to locate fixtures and outlets.
  • Test system performance with voltmeters, ammeters, and related tools to ensure NEC compliance.
  • Maintain tools/materials and keep the job site safe and organized.
  • Document daily logs and prepare basic technical reports.
  • May mentor others on site and coordinate with owner on performance and safety.

Are you ready to power up your career? We are seeking an Electrical Technician 1 to support the installation, maintenance, and repair of intricate commercial building systems. Working under the guidance of senior electricians, you will ensure the safety and functionality of power distribution, lighting, and low-voltage systems.

This is an ideal entry-level role for a motivated professional with 2–4 years of experience looking to build a path toward becoming a Journeyman Electrician.

Position Summary

The Electrical Technician 1 plays a critical role in supporting the installation and maintenance of intricate building systems under the guidance of senior electricians or electrical engineers. This position focuses on ensuring the functionality and safety compliance of essential systems, including power distribution, lighting,and lowvoltagesystems. Key responsibilities include assisting with electrical installations, performing routine maintenance and repairs, and interpreting technical schematics. The technician is responsible for testing and calibrating systems using specialized tools and must maintain an organized, safe job site while documenting daily activities and technical reports.

Essential Functions
  • Assistin pulling wire, installing conduit, and supportingrough-insforcommercial projects.
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance andassistin diagnosing or repairing malfunctioning equipment.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams todeterminethe placement of fixtures and outlets.
  • Testing & Calibration : Use specialized tools (e.g., voltmeters, ammeters) to test system performance and ensure they meet building codes.
  • Maintain tools and materials while keeping the job site clean and organized to ensure safety.
  • Assistin updating daily logs of activities and preparing basic technical reports.
  • May give instruction, direction, and mentorship to others on the job site including an assigned helper
  • Gather/collate/classifyinformation
  • Coordinateswith owner to ensurejob performance and satisfaction including job close-out, scheduling, andsafety reports.
  • Selectstypeandsizeofconduit, wiring,andrelatedmaterialsandequipmentsuchassupports,hangers,and supports, according to specifications
  • Inspects worksites todeterminepresence of obstructions and toascertainthatwork performed willnot cause structural damage
  • Makes plans to coordinate job site materials, subcontracted work, job schedule, and job close-out documents.
  • Plans installation and repair to avoid obstructionsand to avoid interference with the activitiesof otherworkers
Essential Skills & Qualifications
  • Technical Proficiency: Basic understanding of electrical theories, circuits, and the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Tool Usage: Familiarity with hand and power tools such as wire strippers, drills, and conduit benders.
  • Math & Analytical Skills: Basic algebra and geometry arerequiredfor calculating loads and taking precise measurements.
  • Physical Stamina: Ability to stand forlong periods, lift heavy objects (often up to 50lbs.), and work in varied environments like construction sites or confined spaces.
  • Software Awareness: While technicians focus on field work, some roles may require basic exposure to AutoCAD or Revit for interpreting design documents.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent isrequired
  • 2-4years ofrelevantexperiencein electrical work or a related field
  • A foundational understanding of electrical theory (e.g., Ohm’s Law, circuitry) and a working familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Blueprint Literacy: Ability to interpret electrical schematics and technical diagrams toidentifyplacement for power distribution and lighting.
  • Tool Competency:Proficiencywith industry-specific hand and power tools, including:
  • Conduit benders (manual and hydraulic)
  • Wire strippers and crimpers
  • Multimeters, voltmeters, and ammeters
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environmentand communicate professionally
Preferred Skills
  • NCCER Electrical Level 1 or 2
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Construction Safety
  • Ability to perform complex bends (saddles, offsets, and back-to-back 90s) with minimal material waste
  • Knowledge of Cat6 cabling, fiber optics, or security/fire alarm
  • A fundamental understanding of how to wire starters and control circuits
  • The abilityto planworkbyidentifyingexactly which connectors, fasteners, and wire gauges
Compensation

Salary Min: $41,622
Salary Max: $69,395

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use their hands and fingers to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms. They will need to stand (approximately 70%), walk (approximately 20%), and sit (approximately 10%). The employee will also need to be able to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, feel, talk, and hear. The employee will need to be able to carry and lift up to 50- 75 lbs, and move up to 200lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, midrange vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position which typically requires 40 hours per week.
