POSITION OVERVIEW

The Electrician Level I is responsible for performing basic electrical installations and repairs under the supervision of a journeyman or foreman. This role requires a solid foundation of electrical knowledge, attention to detail, and a commitment to safety and craftsmanship.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and components in residential, commercial, or industrial settings
  • Pull wire through conduit, install electrical boxes, and assist with wiring and connection of electrical panels and devices
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and job layouts under supervision
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment to perform basic electrical tasks
  • Identify materials needed and assist in organizing tools and job site setups
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, ensuring all work complies with NEC, local codes, and safety standards
  • Work collaboratively with team members and take direction from journeymen and foremen
  • Report progress and job site issues to supervisors regularly

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Perform assigned electrical work accurately and efficiently, following all safety and code requirements
  • Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) to minimize risk and maintain a safe job site
  • Collaborate with journeymen, foremen, and peers to ensure smooth workflow and effective communication on job sites

ORGANIZATIONAL ALIGNMENT

This position reports to the local Project Manager and is responsible for engaging with the install team and all of our customers.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of or current enrollment in an accredited electrical apprenticeship program preferred.
  • 1–2 years of experience working in the electrical field (including internships or trade school experience).
  • Basic knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local building codes
  • Familiarity with basic electrical tools and equipment (e.g., wire strippers, multimeters, drills)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions
  • Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced electricians and foremen
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening
  • OSHA 10 certification preferred (or willingness to obtain)

BEHAVIORAL PROFILE

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend basic job instructions, safety guidelines, and electrical schematics. Can clearly communicate with team members and supervisors and ask for clarification when needed.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to perform basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Can accurately measure and calculate lengths, quantities, and basic electrical values.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to follow written and verbal instructions. Can troubleshoot basic issues, prioritize tasks, and work independently once trained. Maintains focus and accuracy in fast-paced environments.

Physical Demands

Regularly uses hands and arms to operate tools and equipment. Frequently required to stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crawl. Must be able to lift and move up to 50 lbs. Requires good vision and depth perception to perform tasks safely and accurately.
