Job summary

Racine County is seeking an experienced Journeyman Electrician to maintain and repair electrical systems across county buildings. You will troubleshoot lighting, motors, power distribution, and building automation (DDC) equipment, while also handling fire and security alarm systems and emergency generators.

The role requires a Wisconsin Journeyman Electrician’s card and 3–5 years of commercial building experience, with foreman exposure preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required with post-secondary education preferred.
  • Wisconsin Journeyman Electrician's card is required at time of hire.
  • Foreman experience in skilled trades is preferred; overall experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, maintain, repair and install lighting, motors, power distribution and DDC equipment.
  • Maintain and repair fire alarms, security alarms, and building automation controls.
  • Conduct monthly emergency generator tests and perform minor maintenance at remote sites.
  • Repair electrical components, doors, and security systems; replace defective parts as needed.
  • Respond to after-hours emergencies as requested; assist other divisions when required.
  • Review electrical schematics and diagrams; work with contractors on site when needed.
