Job description

Electrical Technician – UAV / Prototype Electronics

Direct Hire | $25-$32/hr | Hands-On Electronics & Prototype Development

Kelly Services is hiring an Electrical Technician to support the development, integration, and testing of advanced unmanned aircraft systems and electronic subassemblies.

This is a hands-on technical role for someone who enjoys building wire harnesses, soldering, terminating connectors, working with PCBs, troubleshooting electrical systems, and turning engineering designs into functional prototype hardware.

If you like fast-moving development work where you can build, test, troubleshoot, modify, and improve electrical systems, this could be a strong next step.

Job Details

Pay: $25-$32 per hour, based on experience
Employment Type:Temp to hire
Shift:1st Shift
Location: Van Buren Twsp

Why You’ll Want This Job
  • $25-$32/hour, based on experience

  • Hands-on work with UAV, avionics, robotics, and prototype electronics

  • Build and modify real prototype hardware

  • Work closely with engineering teams during product development

  • Variety of harness fabrication, PCB work, testing, integration, and troubleshooting

  • Opportunity to support both bench testing and flight testing

  • Work with advanced electrical and electronic systems instead of repetitive production assembly

  • Excellent opportunity to grow your skills in aerospace, robotics, UAV systems, and electrical integration

What You’ll Be Doing

As an Electrical Technician, you’ll support engineers by building, installing, testing, and troubleshooting electrical systems and components used in prototype unmanned aircraft.

Your work will include:

Wire Harness & Cable Fabrication
  • Build prototype wire harnesses and cable assemblies

  • Cut, strip, crimp, solder, splice, terminate, and label wiring

  • Assemble connectors, contacts, terminals, backshells, and related hardware

  • Build assemblies from schematics, pinouts, wiring diagrams, and engineering drawings

  • Modify prototype cables and harnesses as designs evolve

  • Route wiring with proper strain relief, protection, service loops, and separation

  • Perform continuity, polarity, resistance, and basic electrical checks

PCB & Electronics Assembly
  • Prepare prototype PCBs for installation

  • Install electronic boards, flight controllers, avionics modules, and power distribution hardware

  • Perform basic PCB rework and component or connector replacement

  • Support PCB bring-up and functional testing

  • Apply and inspect conformal coating

  • Mask connectors, test points, switches, and mounting surfaces as required

  • Troubleshoot electrical issues at the board, connector, and system level

UAV Integration & Testing

You may support the installation and testing of systems such as:

  • Flight controllers

  • ESCs

  • Power distribution systems

  • GNSS / RTK equipment

  • Telemetry radios

  • Cameras

  • Pumps and actuators

  • Sensors

  • Other avionics and electronic systems

You’ll also:

  • Use multimeters, oscilloscopes, bench power supplies, and other diagnostic equipment

  • Assist with bench, ground, and flight testing

  • Diagnose wiring, power, connector, and communication issues

  • Build temporary electrical test setups

  • Perform prototype modifications and repairs

  • Document wiring changes, hardware updates, and test results
