Job Summary

The Electrical and Instrumentation Technician is responsible for leading electrical systems, performing advanced troubleshooting of hardware and software, supporting the production of quality products in a safe environment. They are subject-matter experts in specific technologies and capable of covering multiple areas during their shift. As skills increase, they support improvements and capital projects, working on electrical items, projects, improvements, training, and supporting the shift team as needed.

Work Schedule

The Greensboro Browns Summit Procter & Gamble Plant operates 7 days per week on 12-hour shifts, typically on a 2-2-3 schedule. Day shift runs from 7:00 am to 7:30 pm, and night shift from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and repair high-speed packing, manufacturing, and facilities power & controls equipment.
  • Collaborate with Operating and Project Teams to eliminate losses and improve electrical systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and calibrations on equipment.
  • Monitor and program PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems.
  • Monitor variable frequency drives, servo control systems, robotics.
  • Repair machine and process control equipment.
  • Analyze trends and technical data to proactively identify issues.
Electrical Technical Skills
  • Obtain Low Voltage Qualification (up to 1,000V).
  • Use tools to eliminate defects and improve systems (UPS, Y-Y, failure analysis).
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems using drawings, documentation, PLCs, HMIs.
  • Support all planned maintenance downtime events.
  • Program, set up, and configure electrical components (VFDs, PLCs, flow meters, pressure meters, communications).
  • Conduct hardware and software troubleshooting.
  • Maintain electrical field devices and power systems.
  • Execute electrical maintenance planning tasks.
  • Interface with vendors and on-site teams.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree in electrical engineering or related field, or 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with operations or process equipment.
  • Background in Rockwell hardware/software systems.
  • Ability to troubleshoot PLCs, HMIs, and electrical documentation.
  • Problem-solving skills and deductive reasoning.
  • Experience in regulated industries (Food, Cosmetic, Drug) and GMP compliance.
  • Strong electrical safety practices.
  • Self-motivated with a sense of urgency.
