Job summary

SAIC in Bedford, Indiana is seeking an Electrical Technician to support a full-rate production program on the production floor. You will fabricate, assemble, and test electrical harnesses, cable assemblies, and low-voltage systems in line with engineering drawings and work instructions.

Responsibilities include crimping, soldering, and termination of connectors, building battery cable assemblies and power distribution, interpreting schematics, and performing tests to ensure quality.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent; Associate degree preferred.
• At least two years in electrical assembly or cable fabrication.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• MIL-SPEC and commercial connector crimping/termination experience.
• Proficient with standard hand/power tools and test equipment; able to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble, and install electrical harnesses and wiring systems per drawings.
• Crimp, solder, and terminate connectors; test completed assemblies.
• Build battery cable assemblies and low-voltage distribution systems.
• Read schematics and wiring diagrams; perform continuity and insulation tests.
• Maintain production records and assist with inventory and safety compliance.

Job description

SAIC is seeking an Electrical Technician in support of a full-rate production program at the Bedford, Indiana Production Facility. This is a hands‑on, production‑floor role supporting the fabrication, integration, assembly, and testing of mission‑critical containerized systems in direct support of systems operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Fabricate, assemble, and install electrical harnesses, cable assemblies, and wiring systems in accordance with engineering drawings and work instructions
• Perform crimping, soldering, and termination of connectors
• Build and test battery cable assemblies, power distribution systems, and low-voltage control wiring
• Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and assembly drawings
• Perform continuity, insulation resistance, and functional testing of completed cable assemblies and electrical systems
• Support integration of communications equipment, RF systems, antennas, and electronic enclosures
• Identify and document drawing discrepancies, redlines, and non‑conformances
• Maintain accurate production records, traveler documentation, and timekeeping in accordance with program requirements
• Support inventory management, kitting, and staging of electrical components and materials
• Coordinate with the Cable Shop Lead and Production Manager on daily priorities and production sequencing
• Adhere to all safety, quality, and ESD handling requirements on the production floor

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required - Associate's degree in Electronics Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field preferred

Experience: At least two (2) years of experience in electrical assembly, cable fabrication, or systems integration Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics and wiring diagrams Experience with MIL‑SPEC and commercial connector crimping and termination Familiarity with hand tools, power tools, and electrical test equipment (multimeter, continuity tester, oscilloscope) Ability to work in a production environment including standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working in confined spaces
