Job summary

Piramal Critical Care is seeking an Electrical Systems Specialist to support reliability, maintenance, troubleshooting, and improvement of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems in a GMP manufacturing setting. The role coordinates small to medium engineering projects, collaborates with cross-functional teams, and ensures safe operation of equipment up to 480V.

The position requires an associate degree in a related field and at least 3 years of experience with industrial manufacturing

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot instrumentation, controls, equipment interfaces, and related systems.

Electrical Systems Specialist

Job Description

Supports the reliability, maintenance, troubleshooting, and improvement of electrical, instrumentation, and control systems while coordinating small to medium engineering projects in a GMP manufacturing environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot instrumentation, controls, equipment interface, and related system issues to support safe and reliable manufacturing operations.
  • Provide technical support to production, maintenance, engineering, calibration, and contractor teams during equipment troubleshooting and improvement activities.
  • Fully responsible for small to medium projects from scope clarification through execution and closeout, including field coordination, contractor alignment, schedule tracking, documentation, and stakeholder communication.
  • Responsible for installation, startup, testing, commissioning, and documentation closeout for instrumentation, controls, equipment interface, and manufacturing equipment upgrade projects.
  • Read, interpret, and redline wiring schematics, wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, P&IDs, panel drawings, and vendor documentation as needed for troubleshooting, installation support, and project execution.
  • Work collaboratively with electricians, instrumentation technicians, maintenance personnel, automation resources, operations, quality, EHS, and external contractors to complete assigned work safely and effectively.
  • Support troubleshooting of PLC, HMI, instrument signals, control panels, field devices, sensors, transmitters, valves, equipment operating up to 480V, and related equipment interfaces in partnership with automation or qualified electrical resources when required.
  • Assist with troubleshooting Allen Bradley PLC, HMI, and related control system issues in partnership with automation resources.
  • Review equipment and vendor documentation to ensure electrical and controls requirements are understood and properly implemented.
  • Support calibration, instrumentation, and metrology activities as needed to maintain operational reliability and compliance.
  • Participate in Change Controls, investigations, commissioning activities, and validation efforts as required.
  • Support equipment reliability initiatives by identifying and implementing improvements that reduce downtime and improve maintainability.
  • Maintain compliance with GMP, safety, environmental, and company requirements.
  • Build strong working relationships across Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, and EHS to drive timely issue resolution and project execution.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience
Required
  • Associate degree in Instrumentation Technology, Controls Technology, Electrical Technology, Industrial Maintenance Technology, Mechatronics, Automation Technology, or related technical discipline.
  • Experience working on small projects from cradle to grave
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with or supporting troubleshooting of industrial manufacturing equipment that operates up to 480V, with emphasis on safe work practices, schematic interpretation, and coordination with qualified electrical or maintenance resources as required.
  • Ability to read and modify electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, technicians, or cross‑functional teams to execute maintenance, improvement, or project activities.
  • Working knowledge of PLCs, HMIs, motor controls, instrumentation, and industrial electrical systems.
  • Familiarity with GMP-regulated manufacturing environments and change management processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in pharmaceutical, chemical, API, food, or other regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with Allen Bradley PLC platforms and FactoryTalk applications.
  • Experience supporting electrical upgrades, equipment installations, or facility improvement projects.
  • Familiarity with commissioning, qualification, validation, and GMP documentation practices.
  • Experience using AutoCAD or similar drafting software.
  • Working knowledge of SAP, TrackWise, or other maintenance and quality systems.
  • Familiarity with process safety concepts, Management of Change (MOC), PHA, or HAZOP methodologies.
